Rolfzen was an OK right-side hitter for the Huskers as a freshman and sophomore, partly because she was a great blocker. With career averages of 2.13 kills per set with a .200 hitting percentage, she wasn’t consistently getting it done to help carry the Huskers in big matches. Coaches want a right-side player hitting closer to a .250 clip.
While her twin sister, Kadie Rolfzen, had earned first-team all-conference honors in each of her first two seasons, Amber Rolfzen hadn’t gotten any postseason honors.
The second half of Amber's college career has been a whole lot better after a position switch, and now the junior from Papillion has gone from an OK right-side hitter to possibly an All-American middle blocker. Those awards will be announced in two weeks. Earlier this week, she was one of the 14 players on the All-Big Ten first team.
