Former Husker Andre Jones went to court Tuesday on allegations that he stole a 50-inch plasma screen TV in June.

The 25-year-old was arrested Monday and is being held in jail on a $3,000 percentage bond on the felony charge.

In the warrant for his arrest, Lincoln police allege that in June Jones stole a 50-inch Pioneer Plasma TV worth about $2,800 from the basement of a Fallbrook home where he'd been staying.

The owner of the home, Marcus Young II, told police his son, sophomore tight end Dreu Young, lived at the home along with Jones and some other Husker players. Jones was the only one who hadn't moved out for the summer by June 1, court records say.

On June 25, Young discovered the TV had been taken.

In an interview July 8, Jones denied stealing the TV and said he was out of town, trying out for the Buffalo Bills, when it was taken. He was there from June 15 to 17, according to police.

Police say Jones admitted he was at the house June 25, before leaving for Omaha, but said Justin Makovicka and Zac Lee were there at the same time.

A week later, police had tracked the TV down to Capital City Pawn, 2727 N. 11th St., where the pawn listing indicated someone who gave Jones' name, date of birth and showed his license pawned the TV on June 25. According to court records, an employee told police Jones said he was a football player and got the TV for playing in a bowl game.

What a solid individual. Not only stole a tv, but stole it from one of his former teammates parents'. Super.

Man I hope it didn't go down like they report. If so what a d*#! move on his part! It's hard not to be jaded when you read these things about players so often. What a horrible way to leave Lincoln.

Great Lie.....

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- A former Nebraska football player won't be prosecuted on accusations that he stole a big-screen television.

Andre Jones was approved for pretrial diversion instead.

Jones' lawyer says Jones had no police record and that the TV had been recovered.

Lincoln police had said that Jones stole a 50-inch Pioneer Plasma TV worth about $2,800 from the basement of a home where he'd been staying.

Police tracked down the TV at a pawn shop.

The 25-year-old Jones played cornerback for Nebraska during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

He is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He played junior college football at Fresno City College in California.

Boy did he get lucky.

He's still a knucklehead in my book................I still remember what he said about USC

An overhyped player with lofty expectations that never lived up to them, talked smack about the best team in the nation, didn't back it up, steals a tv, pawns it, then lies about it, and is now getting off with diversion...wow...definitely a lucky guy.
