Andrew White transferring

I think him leaving is a bad loss for us. At the same time I watch lots of nba and would assume the scouts told him he is terrible at passing, dribbling and driving to the hoop They might view him as a three point shooter, okay rebounder sub par defender and that's about it. So, I think Andrew and his dad wanted Andrew to be a driver and a facilitator on offense. I think Tim wanted him to be the three point knock down shooter we all know him as. Since AW3 wants to make the NBA his dad tells Miles to allow andrew to drive more, miles says something probs on the lines of we want him as our 3 point specialist. Andrew decides to transfer because the offense isn't run around him and it is run for the team, so his dad and him decided he would leave so he can make the NBA. Basically he left I think because of different views of the offense, Andrew wanted to do more than Miles wanted him to. Tai will be our driver and facilitator along with watson/gill. Andrew wanted to do whatever to make the pros, not what was best for the team.

 
The guy has a helicopter dad , took the majority of the shots, was the big fish in a small pond...........now he wants to go to a high-profile team where he'll most likely be a small fish in a big pond.

Hope it works out for him....he seems like a good kid and isn't obnoxious about what he wants. I continue to believe it could be a blessing for the Huskers with the other players knowing they're not gonna stand around and watch this guy shoot. Our new inside presence could also be a big game changer allowing the guards breathing room and more shots.

 
Based off of track record, MSU is where I'd end up. Before Nebraska joined the B1G, Izzo is my favorite college hoops coach and MSU was my bandwagon team. I'd just really hate to see him end up there, as a Nebraska fan.

I'm fine with it as long as MSU keeps losing to us in everything

According to White, he met with Miles prior to making his decision and expressed concern both in his role on the team and the Huskers' chances to compete and win in 2016-17. The fallout, he says, turned sour.


"It was interpreted as a slap in the face, as if I was saying I didn't believe in the program, my teammates or the coaching staff," White said. "Really, I was just thinking about best-case scenario and worst-case scenario for everybody. I think that's something a lot of people do.

"When I was expressing those concerns, I thought that being one of the older guys (on the Nebraska team) would kind of put me in a place where I could talk about those things. So I talked to Tim Miles and he expressed his thoughts about me. We're grown men and we had the right to have some differences in opinion.

"Ultimately, that's what kind of sparked my decision. I didn't want to be in a situation where there was a bridge burned and I wouldn't be able to do what I dreamed of doing. So I thought it was best for both parties to move on in another direction."

According to White, he requested one day to inform teammates, friends and family of his impending departure from Nebraska. Then, he said, he would issue a statement.

Instead, White says, the news leaked and the uproar ensued.

It sounds as though Miles may have had a bad reaction due to pressure he feels from fan base and his own expectations. I could see how Miles took it as a slap in the face and also not handling the situation the best. The release statement was pretty terse.

One clear thing that White doesn't grasp, is ownership of how bad the timing looks and is. I believe he has a point about how he got dragged through the mud, but he put himself into that position, and he chose to stay silent instead of owning it and squashing it, instead it festered. He also had people qualify and defend his decision to leave too, Nick Bahe on Game Time made as many - if not more - pro points as he did cons.

So, while he speaks about going to a program where he can do something bigger as a whole than individually, he made a move to do something selfish, which sounds pretty contradictory. Or am interpreting that wrong?

And at that point Miles and the university owe him nothing to control the news of his decision. Just as he's made his own big boy decision and business trips, Miles did his own. Can't have it all your way.

 
White can spin it anyway he wants. He still left his team, coaches and the fans hanging high and dry and the manner in which he did it is not that of "a grown man", IMO.

 
White went from a nobody to a somebody in one year at Nebraska. Him wanting to leave shows the lack of confidence in himself. We aren't a low mid-major program where you don't get enough pub. If you can showcase your talent against B10 opponents you are more than okay to make the league.

 
Honestly, who really cares about this guy. He's gone, lets move on. Its not like he was some unbelievable once in a lifetime player. He's a good player, not some world beater.

 
Hypothetical.........

Let's say White finds during his "tour" that he really had the best opportunity at Nebraska and decides his decision was a mistake and asks Smiles to come back to donu.

Does Miles even entertain the thought?

Or does he say...."It's up to the team, they are the ones that you let down"; and I'll let them decide.

IF such a scenario unfolds.............what does the team decide ?
