Annonymous Coach on Nebraskas season so far

I think what makes VaTech (offensively) a huge test is the QB. Taylor can tuck it and run from the pocket if he has enough time and moves the chains. The D-Line will have to put serious pressure on him & if he does run, the LBs need to get after him and stick him. Missing tackles cannot happen.

Also, coverage tends to break down when a QB has plenty of time to throw. This secondary needs to be ready for that too.

It will be a frustrating night if VaTech moves the chains on third and long situations (3rd & 7/8/9+)with Taylor scrambling out of the pocket for first downs. And of course the more confident he gets, the better he will play.

Cant wait to watch this game & see how the D will get after it... or not.

Why is everyone so insistant on making VA TECH'S QB so amazing? He's good, but San Jose St's Quarterback was pretty damn good. too! yes, Va Tech will have a better line to allow Taylor to get more done, but it's not like the Defense hasn't seen this type of speed yet......

Really. Va Tech isn't all that great. Nebraska isn't the best either...but I see Va tech as only a notch above the talent we've already seen. I mean come on! the REAL first test for Nebraska will be Missouri...not VA TECH.

I hear what you're saying. It's not so much that. He's a dual threat QB which can cause a lot of problems to a young defense. It's more about how our young defense will respond than thinking the QB is amazing.

I think it presents a different look from what the Huskers have seen so far this year. He's a lot more athletic than they've seen for sure. So it's a good challenge.

this exactly why we should be going to a smaller , faster, and more athlethic LBs an DEs in the future...need to be able to play in space..can't tackle 'em if you can't catch 'em !!!

I think he is telling us we are not that good, and from his view, we are really going to have problems with talented teams.

When we played these teams in the day, it was wow, ready for another NC run, so fast, so strong, so prepared.

I hope most of you guys are right on your feelings, but I am afraid we start seeing what is really on the sidelines this week, my guess is we get by this weekend, but the next two are going to be ugly at best.

If we fight to the end, that is all I care about. I expect to lose 5 and maybe 6 this year, so a hard fought battle with a loss is not the end of the world for me, but we may just pull it out. Just depends on how the kids react to playing a team that has faster, stronger, quicker and more athletic athletes than what they have been facing. Stand up to them and hit back, is what I want to see. But I just have this sickening feeling it will not happen.

Bingo. Give that man a prize. I'd guess Bo knows this and is heading in that direction. Right now when we face an athletic team NU will really struggle defensively --- no matter what Bo has as scheme. We need speed --- and it is just not there. Yet.

I am not sure that Vtech is that athletic (on offense). But Missou and TTECH are --- we'll see how we fare there.

VT is athletic on defense though (more so that Missou and TTEch) and that will be a good indicator of where the NU offense is. I really think we'll know a great deal more about the units at NU these next few weeks (our O against VTech) and our D against Missou and TTech).

papuchis (spelling) said that at the beginning of the year. That they will be going for a smaller type player that other schools will pass over...bring em in and build em up...fast, tough, and talented.

they have been talkin bout it since they started recruiting.

Va Tech proved that they will play 4 qtrs against UNC...has NU shown that? More importantly, WILL they show up for 4 qtrs?

while i agree that this seems to be from a sjsu coach, it does not necessarily have to be Tomey. If I had to guess I'd think it was their offensive coordinator.

Whatever happened to the former Arizona QB\Nebraska fan that was on here last year? He played under Tomey.
:) People stopped sending warm fuzzy PM requests for his super rumor information.. Plus he's somewhere Bleeding Red up his ***.

IBR..BANK IT
Bwahaha!

Did you LITERALLY PULL OVER ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TO TYPE THAT?!

I guess we'll just have to wait until Saturday to find out if this guy is right.

He really didn't say anything new or exciting. We will find out Saturday how the team is progressing. I personally feel that they are making good progress. That doesn't mean that they are going to win this or any other game against name opponents, but they are constantly seeming to improve. That is what is important.
