Announcers

I think they are basically fair, but to go back to last weeks game with Sparty and show that..........for what ?...........To show we don't deserve the W ?

Speilman used to be more passionate.

It's like he ingested too much sominex with his lunch.

These are good announcers. They understand the game, do their homework, have a sense of humor.

They questioned a call that went Nebraska's way. They had a point. They are broadcasting the game to Penn State fans, too. Bet you forgot that part of the equation.

Also, you may have missed it earlier when Spielman and McDonough said there is no other place in colllege football they look forward to visiting more than Memorial Stadium, Lincolnl Nebraska, home of the most dedicated, knowledgeable fans, etc.

Please give up on this weekly bit of paranoia.
Yup, they made a point of talking about how this crowd was one of the classiest and most knowledgeable in football.

I thought they did a great job of breaking down some of the plays. When Penn State lined up their two receivers in the slot to "pressure the safeties" for example, and get their TEs matched up on smaller outside corners (Andrew Green broke up that particular play). Little things like that. And when McGloin threw that pass away in the endzone they immediately started pointing out that it could be a safety, which it was -- the official tossed out the flag eventually.

They don't need to beat it in the ground. I get it!!!!! Stop saying it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over

and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. :ahhhhhhhh :ahhhhhhhh dedhoarse

2 things...if it were called a touchdown, i woulda said the same thing it was indisputable as a fumble so it went our way stop talking bout it. The other bit, why the hell would you not kick the field goal to end the game...WOWZER

They really showed how dumb they were when they were saying they'd go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal to ice the game. Is this their first time watching a football game?

Didn't have a problem with them talking about it and thinking it was a touchdown (it probably was), but they harped on it a little too long. Even they realized it, when Sean said, "Alright, is it time to let that go?"

Yah, I mostly like these two. I was getting annoyed, but the self-aware comment that they should cut it out made me smile.

(Of course, they did bring it up again at least once more! Sigh...)

I just could help thinking let it F-ing go! Point it out as a pivotal play and move on. I think it was tough call to make which is why it has to be indisputable to turn over any call. Spielman I like the other guy is a tool!

I thought they did a fairly decent job up until the controversial play. Then numbnuts just wouldn't let it go. And they seemed to get biased after that; comments made when taylor fumbled after obviously being down and showing that clip from MSU game (which was out of context because they didn't show any of the many bad calls that went against us). Personally I don't care if PSU did get screwed on the call as I'm still waiting for the makeup call from 1983. In all honesty, I don't think they could overturn with that camera angle The goal line is running from bottom left to top right on my TV, that tells me the camera was on about the one or two yard line. Anybody who knows just a little bit about geometry, trig, right angles etc. should know that is not indisputable. Did it really cross the plane? Maybe, but they couldn't prove it. The biggest problem is not us or the PSU fans complaining about it, it's the announcer who kept going on and on and on when it quite simply was not that obvious.

They did a great job IMO. They chopped up Pap's name, but who doesn't? Its when they got to the "controversial" call, is where they really started to get on my nerves. Then they showed the PI call in the MSU game. Ridiculous if you ask me.

They actually called out when Penn State would take a shot down the field, and who they would try to exploit. They were actually dead on.

For the remark that one is a Penn State grad, I have yet to find any truth to that.

^^^^^^^^^this^^^^^^^^^ outside of that, they were OK.

I have a theory that these guys are of the age when NU was more dominant so they are used to NU being on top (sort of like NY Yankees haters...there is a generation that will always not like them). I think this is what we may be seeing with some of the announcers we have to deal with today. I really had no problem with this crew when I watched them on other games but man are they anti-Nebraska. This is two weeks in a row where they railed on a call that went our way. It was really obnoxious and how their venom came out against us and they would not let it go. I think these guys do a pretty good job throughout the game on all the other things but they are unable to commentate on a game without bias which is very unprofessional and downright douchebag-ish.

This is from Spielman's Wikipedia page:

Charles Christopher Spielman (born October 11, 1965) is a former American football player and is currently an analyst for ESPN's partisan anti-Neebraska hack for coverage of college football games. :laughpound
