any updates on matt herian?

If he doesn't play this year Tomerlin better step right in and deliver. I don't know if Mueller(sp) or Phillips can get it done. That being said I would rather have Heiran sit out then play and not be 100% healthy.

Matt was recruited in the class of 2002. He played in 2002, 2003 and 2004. So Matt could actually redshirt this next season, and if necessary, petition for a medical redshirt year in 2006, and return in 2007.

So there is no hurry. Matt needs to take his time and make sure he does what's necessary to come back 100%. No matter how long it takes.

The average life span of an NFL player is 3 years, and players drop dramatically in the draft for being older, ask Jason White. I agree it would be best for the huskers if Matt was 100%, and maybe best for him too, but he needs to get back on the football field if the nfl is in his future.

White was a couple of years older than the average player drafted but he also had an ACL injury, a serious ankle injury earlier in his career, with arm strength and mechanics as weaknesses as well.

Matts best chance to go to the NFL after such a devastating injury and two surgeries is to come back 100% and have a great year. I understand the longer Matt sits out the harder it will be for him to come back but reports coming out of campus all seem to indicate Matt is nowhere near ready. But the football season is young. Just because Matt may not be ready to return in August doesn't mean he won't be ready in September. Matt's a great competitor with a incredible drive to succeed.
