Anyone for PS3

Thanks for the info strigori and benny. :thumbs Probably what I will end up doing is playing someones console and seeing what the difference is and deciding from there. The wireless internet thing for PS3 is nice as I have wireless throughout my house and I would love to play some people on-line seeing as I have no life and no friends!

Sad but true.

online playing is fun...but be careful. There are some crazy hardcore gamers out there (most of them 13 year old boys that swear like a sailor). First time I played Halo 2 online I thought I knew my stuff because I had beaten the game several times and could beat my buddies...yeah, I realized quickly I sucked compared to some people out there. haha

But you'll become a better gamer, fast.

good luck! :woo

btw, does PS3 have a free online play? or at least a third party software that allows people to connect for free? I know the original Xbox had a couple programs out there that allowed you to fake the system into thinking you were playing a LAN party.

I know the 60GB comes with wireless internet. I simply hooked up a Wireless Router to my computer and I play my PS3 w/ that. So my answer is YES, the online play is absolutely free other than paying for my basic internet service that I already have, it hasn't costed me a penny!

how is it? do you like the functionality of it? Are there a bunch of people that use it with a good variety of games going on?

I just know that one of the qualms about the PS2 was it's online play...so users were hoping that Sony would step it up with the PS3. Just curious

The only thing I have to complain about is on my football game...there is a small delay when a button is pushed, and that hurt me terribly on kickoffs! Other than that, my other games are superfast! But doesn't it all depend on how strong your internet connection is?

Online multiplayer is free for the PS3 unlike the $50 a year for the 360. All PS3s come with built in wireless, the only difference between models is the size of the HD. The game lagging is usually do to your connection, yes. Many of the PS3 games also use Sony end servers, as opposed to the peer to peer setup that the Xbox Live uses.

When I said 2 Shooters, I'm saying 2 of note that you cant get via the PS3. And I have seen more exclusives along those lines running in the direction of the PS3(Haze and Killzone2)

The Blu-ray was a selling point for me, as I got myself a 50 inch Plasma recently(and as football fans, you should really, really invest in some HD setup, the only thing you will regret is not doing it sooner). As far as the format war for Blu-ray vs HDDVD, everything I read has Blu-ray winning in less than a year from now.

Well BRI, whenever you decide let us know. And if you happen to pick PS3 then PM me your screen name so I can add you as a buddy. So when do you plan on deciding?
Well hopefully soon. It all depends on how much off duty jobs I can get to help pay for it so the wife doesn't hassle me. ;)
