Anyone watching the Toledo-Ohio game?

I was just watching all the coverage they are doing on Solich. They are talking about how great a coach he was and keep commenting on the throat-slash by Callahan. Kind of embarassing. There were a lot "Huskers for Ohio" at the game too. I kind of wish he was our coach right now. <_< dedhoarse

OK, I'm going to get ready for the beating I will recieve for this statement, but here goes.

If Solich is such a great coach, why is Ohio the best place he could find that would hire him. I also recall Army offering him, again, not a top flight institution.

Would someone please enlighten me as to why more high profile schools weren't begging for his services?

Probably for the same reasons our "greatest QB" according to some ended up being drafted in Canada rather than the NFL. The offense he runs isn't fashionable. It isn't part of the current trend or fad. Exactly what team do you think would have hired the great TO? The current trend in high profile college teams is to hire an ex NFL coach (Pitt, USC, NU, Notre Dame, South Carolina, etc.) FS doesn't fit the mold.

You're exactly right Junior! It's not that Solich isn't a great coach(which he is,was, and always will be), it's that no other big schools run his offense. You see, he is a disciple of the option and it's hard to get looked at by USC and Florida when you run the option.

Florida when you run the option.

What do they run now? The Spread Option.

Solich was a very good running backs coach. IMO I think he should of taken job at the likes of Ohio before being given the head job at NU. That is just my thought on the matter.

I have a question. Why do so many people around hate Solich so much? I wish he nothing but the best, but on the same note I not upset he is gone. I just don't understand why people hope he does bad. The only time I would hope he loses is if we ever play Ohio.

Because some people cant grasp the idea he is gone and never coming back, and all the Solich lovers continue to try to pound the idea that Solich was the best thing to happen to NU since sliced bread. That forced feeding by Solich lovers is pissing a lot of people off who originally wished him luck at first, but now that we have to listen to it, people are getting tired of it and hoping he does bad so we don't have to keep hearing them whine

You would think some people would get a clue and just leave and go to the Ohio boards, but they can't. They have to make other people miserable in the process

And by the way, why is this even on the Husker forum? It needs to be moved to the more sports forum. This thread is about Ohio, not NU

Please move it MODS

are they so much frank-lover or are they billy-haters?

now don't be misunderstanding me. i liked frank. i didn't want to see frank go. but then again, i thought we had a coach in pelini and we know what happened there.

does billy c. light my fire? meh. but i'm still giving him time. and tossing a HC over the side in just three years doesn't make any program look good.

except if you're notre dame... but they're just so *freakin'* special with that whole touchdown jesus-thing and whatnot. just ask charlie "OMG! what am i gonna do with all this money?!?" weis.
