i actually found a site that lists all polls and in the past...in that site it lists nebraska being mentioned for national champs 12 times..obviously most are just off the wall polls but almost all those years were based of a mathematical equation....

On the football section of www.huskers.com, they have pdfs that go through all the seasons complete with the rankings of the huskers and their oponents at the time the games were played and the final rankings of Nebraska. It's under the history link.
