I'm glad you guys stayed amicable. I value both of your insight on here highly, and it would suck to lose one of you or have you ticked off at each other.
I agree with points both of you made.
But El D nailed how I feel about this conversation. Trump shows no respect for the office himself. He debases it on a daily basis with his behavior. He shows no respect for us, either. He doesn't feel accountable to we the people. He'll deliver for those already in his camp only insofar as their interests align with his own plans. Beyond that? He's not only indifferent, but actively hostile to ANYONE who doesn't bow down and kiss his ring - other lawmakers, the judiciary, world leaders, those who didn't vote for him.
It's f#cking embarrassing. He's an embarrassment. I DO respect the office, greatly. But he's earned every single ounce of disrespect tossed his way, because it's merely reciprocal.
Edit: Moiraine, it's an acquired taste. You just need to try a few more armpits. GF brought home some fruity wines last night and I felt the same way after trying one.
