sd,
What have you seen to think we have a punchers chance against Ohio State? What actions on the field make you think we win? What shortcomings does Ohio State have that play into our strengths, proven or not.
Me thinks it is undying devotion to Nebraska, which I love.
Do you see Martinez running though Ohio State like the cream puffs we have faced?
They have beaten a 12th rated team and did it pretty soundly.
Love your enthusiasim but just do not see the reality of it happening from past results. Yes it could but we have seen nothing to indicate we could to this point, other than just being a fan that thinks we win every game.
I am glad you feel that way, I just have to have something concrete to stand on.
you,
do you know what puncher's chance mean? it means that even though you are outmatched and lose, if you put up your absolute best effort, you will be able to hang around and possible win. not probably, but with your perfect effort, it is possible that you will hang around long enough to actually win. that is what i thought NU would have against TU last year if the won the north. it turns out that they did... what did they do last year during the season to prove they would have a puncher's chance against a much better tu? i do not think you have to beat a better team to be a good team. yes, tOSU beat a 13th ranked team handily, and that is why i think them and bama are the clear cut 1 and 2, but after that it is up for grabs. tOSU has proved their worth, but why do we have to for you to think we are good. we have not done anything to make you doubt us, just as they have done nothing to prove their worth.
so, lets look at this logically...
here is why i think our team is top 10 worthy. first, our coach. i know someone dismissed that earlier, it may have been you. but how can you dismiss the head coach? that is huge. that is what closes the talent gap between NU and tu and makes the game competitive. BO can scheme and he seems to be a good head coach. that is huge, i believe with BO at the helm we could be competetive against anyone.
two, last year. again, someone dismissed last year. past is prologue, last year is a good indicator of this year. our defense proved itself last year, we should be able to think that the defense will still be good. given BO's ability to scheme, our secondary and the front four, we have beyond a reasonable doubt to believe they will be good. then there is the offense. qb was a huge concern, and still should be, although now we have reason to be optimistic (just because i do not think that word is in your vocabulary, it is the glass is half full one). we have playmakers at wideout, great backs, and a qb with the potential to lead this team. now, i do think last year matters, and with how bad our offense was, we only lost 4 games and 3 of those were by less than 3. so we have proved we do not need a stellar defense, although we might have one.
three, washington v. wku and idaho. i do not think washington is a good team, not in the least. but what i do think is that we beat washington as badly as we beat on wku and idaho, at washington. and i think washington, for how bad they are, are still much better than idaho and wku. although we did not learn a lot from that game, we also did not find out any weaknesses. we have a lock down defense. and our toughest regular season game is against a texas that cannot run and has a horrible game coach, at home.
will i be disappointed if we do not make it to the MNC, no. my goals are still the same as before the season, get to the big 12 championship and win a bcs bowl. am i delusional, no. i just think we have the potential to get to the mnc, and i am excited about that.
what has NU done to make you think they do not deserve to be in the top ten? and more importantly, why is the burden of proof so high for NU to prove they belong in the conversation or the top 10 for that matter? other than tOSU or bama, what have the other schools down to prove their worth?
