Gilbert is a dual-threat quarterback that does not play in a spread offense. He is a player that will likely be moved to wide receiver or safety. He is an exceptional athlete that is a serviceable passer and is clearly at the helm for his ability to run, improvise and make plays with his legs. He has good size and a lean frame. Is a smooth athlete that is extremely elusive and if he were in the spread he would probably have many more highlight-type moments because the scheme could really utilize his talents out of the shotgun. He displays very good change-of-direction and is at his best when the original play breaks down and he can improvise and get himself out of trouble. He is an exciting guy to watch as a scrambling passer and designated runner, especially behind the line of scrimmage because he has a knack for pulling a rabbit out of a hat and making multiple defenders miss is a short area of space.
