Allowing 48PPG/avg against Wisconsin is an embarrassment. I understand that average went up when we allowed 70 in the CCG, but it shows we aren't where we want to be, let alone need to be on either side of the ball.

Similar to how we seemed to struggle against Iowa State towards the end of our B12 time. Couldn't really explain it, but you could always count on it being a tough game. Ohio State/Illinois seems to play out like that quite frequently (purdue as well I think).

So you would rather a coach leave then have our coach try to figure out the best way to beat him? Were you around for Osborne-Switzer? Osborne-Bowden?

You got all of that from what I said huh? No, I wasn't around from Osborn-Switzer, and didn't see much of Osborne-Bowden. But, my guess is that 99% of Nebraska fans would have enjoyed seeing Bowden pack up his things and us win a National Championship in 1993, versus losing by a controversial 2 because Bowden had Osborne's number in the early 90's. I certainly would have enjoyed that NC (and 3 in a row).

And, unfortunately I don't have much of a say in where Brett coaches...so the circumstances are what they are, and I'm glad we won't be facing him every year now.

Bielema leaving doesn't necessarily make Wisconsin easier to beat. And I must be in the 1% because I would rather have our coach get it figured out like Osborne did then to rejoice about a coach leaving thinking that the move would be a savior to our team. I like the competition it brings. Wisconsin was for sure going to be a great rivalry with BB as coach. Now? Who knows?

I said Colorado when I was comparing Wisconsin to them. Colorado had some championships and a few wins over us as well. They'll fall back into their place in the conference just like we'll eventually rise to ours. At this point, 90% of the time we aren't even in the discussion - it's all Michigan/Ohio State. That needs to change.

I said Colorado when I was comparing Wisconsin to them. Colorado had some championships and a few wins over us as well. They'll fall back into their place in the conference just like we'll eventually rise to ours. At this point, 90% of the time we aren't even in the discussion - it's all Michigan/Ohio State. I'm not talking just the last few years. Every B1G discussion that talks about who the future big boys are going to be includes Ohio State and Michigan. I was reading an article the other day (SI - not Staples, but one of their other talking heads) discussing the SEC and who will end their dominance. When they were measuring up the B1G and started discussing the new divisions and yada yada, Nebraska didn't even get discussed. They predicted that most years the winner of the Michigan/Ohio State game will be representing the B1G in the Rose Bowl and/or playoff. Didn't even give us enough credit to mention that either of them would have to get by us (or the west winner) first. Understandably it's being viewed as though the B1G and the East division is quickly taking the competitive path that the B12 turned into w/ the North. We haven't exactly done much to dispel that theory so it is what it is.

I'd even say that, at least on an emotional level, I care more about beating Illinois and Northwestern every year, so I agree with the sentiment there.

That's a Wisconsin fan's perspective, now as a Nebraska fan, why you wouldn't want us as a rival (in the sense that a person could "want" a rival), especially given the last two seasons, kind of escapes me. If we're going East/West then you're pretty much stuck with us and Iowa and if you care more about Iowa well...have fun with that.

At the risk of derailing this thread, I am most nervous about Northwestern in the next couple of years. They are putting together a helluva recruiting class this year. If they can put it all together, teams in the West Division might be looking up at them.

I would rather not have Wisconsin as a rival for the same reasons I hated Colorado being a rival. A bunch of their fans are pieces of sh!t. And I'm primarily talking about the game experience / students. I think quite a few people (EZ-E?) can attest to the game experience in Wisconsin being closer to Colorado than Oklahoma. And that was before any kind of rivalry. If we end up as rivals it's gonna suck. I'd rather that was just a good game to watch every year...not one that takes on a personal tone. B1G rivalries just feel different to me. I'm good friends with an Ohio State fan (he played there) and his opinions of a few of the schools...Michigan in particular, kind of leave a bad taste in my mouth. The rivalries aren't rooted in respect, it's pure hatred. I'd honestly rather we didn't have any. Not sure why everyone is so intent on developing these rivalries.
