B1G Tournament

Omaha-Husker

All-Conference
Some really awesome match-ups this week. Should be a fun weekend in Chicago.

Nebraska gets Purdue round one. Purdue is playing pretty well right now, but they are still the match up I was hoping for.

Michigan plays Penn St round one. Interesting combo.

Winner of Illinois Minnesota round 1 will get IU, both of which beat them in dramatic fashion earlier this season.

I also think Purdue is a good matchup for us. At least we will be able to use Andre A. with this matchup and he should be able to make an impact (and will need to if we want to move on).

As mentioned in the OP, Purdue is playing very well. I think Illinois orIowa may have been better

I'm ok with the Purdue matchup. If we buckle down and do not let them get hot I can see us having a fair chance to win.

Purdue followed up by Ohio State....

Who knows.. I think Purdue is not too bad of a matchup..

Beat Purdue and maybe make an argument for NIT.

While I would love to be able to see the Huskers in the NIT, I am not sure that it will happen since there has never been a sub 500 team involved before. Not that a 500 record or better is part of the qualification any longer, but just because it has never happened. We have been to the NIT many of times with our best showing in 1996 as NIT Champions. Husker NIT appearances shown below FYI:

  • NIT Tournament appearances (17): 1967, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011
  • NIT Tournament champions (1): 1996
