Nebraska’s baseball team has a problem.
And for once, NU Coach Mike Anderson couldn’t be happier to have this problem – he hesitates even to call the situation a problem.
The situation is his Cornhuskers have four quality middle infielders. The problem lies in the fact that the baseball field allows for only one shortstop and one second baseman.
“We have quality Big 12 people in our middle infield,” said Anderson, whose Huskers opened fall practice Monday. “It is a great thing to be able to have this.”
Senior Joe Simokaitis and freshmen Ryan Wehrle, Jake Opitz and Casey Klapperich are all fighting for those two spots.
