Good for Baylor, bad for Briles. Not much of a step up.My source is the Waco Tribune. I get updates from them because of all the business I do in that area.
No it's really not. Houston would club Baylor if they played each other. But Briles is a very good coach, and he may actually make Baylor competitve in a few yearsGood for Baylor, bad for Briles. I dont think Kansas or Missouri got that memo.I think Baylor could have a decent program, but not in the Big 12. If they were in the WAC or Mountain West, they could challenge for conference titles. I don't think it matters who's coaching them, they will be at or near the bottom of the Big 12 every year.

They are an exceedingly tiny school, and they have tougher academic requirements than most. Combine those two and you have your explanation why they have never really succeeded even though they sit inside a hotbed of recruiting like Texas.I find myself wondering why Baylor can't become great? Do they have higher academic requirements or something? I mean they do reside in one of the best recruiting beds in the country. If South Florida can do it when they didn't even have a program 12 years ago, why can't Baylor?
They had a great coach long ago named Grant Teaf. He could coach, motivate, game plan, and recruit back in the SWC days. They havent turned it around since. It wouldnt take as much as it has. They have an amazing baseball program & womens basketball program too.I find myself wondering why Baylor can't become great? Do they have higher academic requirements or something?
