Ossipee, NH -- A woman was arraigned on second-degree murder charges Monday after an Ossipee mother was stabbed to death over the weekend.
Maureen McDonald, 36, was charged with killing Jennifer Correa, 31. Police said that McDonald stabbed Correa twice -- once in the heart -- at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said that McDonald told them that she gave Correa money for beer, but McDonald became upset because she didn't believe she received her fair share.
Police said that McDonald originally told them that Correa attacked her with the knife first, but she later changed her story.
"She now stated that she had the knife and Correa never had the knife that night," Sgt. Carrie Nolet said. "She said she accidentally cut her own hand while reaching for her knife. After she cut her hand, she stabbed Correa twice."
Correa's husband did not attend Monday's hearing, saying that he and his three children are trying to deal with Correa's death.
McDonald was ordered held without bail. She is scheduled to return to court on March 30 for a probable cause hearing.
