Best Personal Sports Achievement

Hmmm, well aside from my glorious collection of a single pinewood derby trophy...

As the only goalie of my Omaha bantam hockey team, we won the league title one year. Another year back there somewhere I was one of the goalies selected to the all star team and pitched a shutout.

In high school led one summer team baseball team with a .286 average. We weren't that good and finished with a 3-13 record.

About 10 years ago did a "triathlon" of sorts: in the morning ran the 10k in the corporate cup, then went and participated in a company golf outing and finished pitching in a co-ed softball game that night. That was a fun day!

I was a 2 time state qualifier in high school wrestling.

I just won a team title in nebraska high school wrestling as a coach last weekend.

Woooo! Go Eagles!

Oh boy people who have never heard this story before. Serious as all get out here, bottom of 9th, grand slam with me being the winning run. After that coachs called game as there was no way for them to win, was kinda a respect thing back then. Heres the kicker did not have enough boys to make a team so we had to have one girl on our team just to compete. You want a ride in history, check out this web site.... http://rembrandtschool.com/Main-Home.htm Almost all the trophies in that case were from my dads years there. Notice there was only basketball and softball/baseball. Thats right the gym was one of the nicest in the area and one ball diamond was it. Not bad for the smallest school in Iowa.

:bonesflag: Went to a small school out in Western Nebraska. Played football and ran track at Doane.

High School

Football- Two time All State DB. Senior year led the state of Nebraska in interceptions regardless of class with 17. Two time All Conference as a Quarterback. Led team to the furthest it had ever been in the playoffs and had a career record as starting QB of 21-3, all loses to the same team. Played D-1, and always remember EVEN MAN FOOTBALL RULES!!!!!!

Basketball- Three time All Conference. And had 12 dunks my senior year. But the best was one I missed against the neighboring little sh#t town, and I got razzed by their fans for about 15 minutes straight. Everytime I touched the ball. I loved it. Took off from the volleyball backline, and back rimmed it back to half court. The kicker was I already had dunked on them twice. I loved basketball too much. The proximity of the fans and the availibility to talk smack. I talked way too much and my mom was so proud. I talked crap to you, your teammates, coaches, fans, student sections, cheerleaders, parents, and grandparents. I talked too much.

Oh and my junior year I was kicked out for getting t'd up twice after fouling out against our rival. My coach joined me about a minute later. We had a great chat the last half of the fourth quarter. Again my mother was SO proud.

Track-Two time medalists in the 400, again Class D. School records in the 200(22.7), 400(50.4), 300 hurdles(41.0), high jump(6'6) and the 4x100 relay. Never medaled at state in the high jump as I always had to run the 400 prelim and never could recover to jump decent. Also was the first person to qualify for state in four events. Track was in my genes, and I absolutely hated it. But it payed for an education at Doane and that isn't cheap.

At Doane, blew my hammy right before the indoor track season my freshman year and never was the same. In football was the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week my senior after the Hastings game. And played in the GPAC vs. the HAAC All Star game.

However, my greatest personal sports achievement was during my bachelor party in Chicago for a Cubs/Cards series and I caught a ball tossed to me from Micah Hoffpauer

That's awesome! Wood River? I scooted down to watch the finals, Skutt's Coach, Brad Hildebrandt, works with my Pops. I did a lot of wrasslin with him and his camps growing up. That 140 pound match with the Central City kid to seal the end of the reign was awesome. My uncle-by-law or whatever you call it (my Pops brother is married to his wifes sister) Troy Ruffner coaches Conestoga, they had 6 qualifiers in class C but they didnt do much. He's a former state champ.
