This concerns me. It's also what I kind of took away from Beck's comments tuesday night after practice, that there just seems to be a little bitterness from the staff. Just seems to be more to this than what we know. Kind of unfortunate if there is. I hope there's not, but I just have this feeling that the Martinez era could very well at the end.

The only way it ends is if Tommy looks quite impressive...and even then I think it is a bit of a stretch. I think Bo hitched his Wagon to Martinez when TMart got his first shot at QB.....however, Bo has shown that he will play others, but will typically revert back to Martinez when he can. You would hope that a healthy, 100% Tommy Armstrong is better than a 75% or less Martinez. I think people are forgetting that Taylor bummed up his left shoulder in the first game. I believe Taylor's left shoulder may still be injured as well.

Lastly, you make a good point about the coaches responses to his turf toe. I have been suspecting the past few days that Taylor might have been keeping his injuries from the coaches...if so, this doesn't bode so well for Martinez at all. NEB needed a healthy Martinez against UCLA and they didn't get one.......period.

I hope for the best for the young man. He's done hell of a lot for the program, but once again, I believe this offense NEEDS A SPARK and BAD. Maybe Tommy can bring that spark to the offense.

QB controversy Saturday at 530.
Pretty confident in that eh!?

I'm game for it Fowler. Bring it. I want to see TA excel. I think it will not only make the offense better, but the whole team better.
I'm excited to see what TA can do, and for a real QB to play for the first time in years. Taylor just has not looked good the first three games. Coaches better sack up and play the best player. I wouldn't mind seeing TA and TM share snaps once TM is healthy, like South Carolina and Northwestern do. Gotta prepare for the future, sick to death of growing pains every year.

If we have to go through the "he's still learning out there, long way to go, hasn't even scratched the surface, once he gets comfortable out there" BS next year, im going to cry. Can we just be prepared for once? I mean, Bo already regretted not playing the frosh dline last year and look where that got us, learn from your mistakes Bo.

I certainly would not expect any QB controversy. The issue... and I surmise the only issue... is how quickly and how completely does Martinez recover from what is a nagging and oddly debilitating injury. Turf toe (I have had it myself) sounds innocuous --- how bad can it really be? But it is bad... for two reasons. One is that while you have it it really slows you down and can limit you far more than you think. And two, it lingers... and oddly it can seem to have "healed" and then re-appear w/o notice and be just as bad as before.

So... TMart's injury is a major issue. The guys filling in will be just that... guys filling in. Hopefully filling in well.

Why would it be the end? I'd think he'll rest one, maybe two weeks, and be back. Am I missing something, assuming he can heal up in a couple weeks?
I think there may be something more to this......

The coaches may not be happy at all about this situation. Do you think in any way, he kept his turf toe problem from the coaches!? If so, I wouldn't be happy if I was Pelini...

I hope he heals up quick, but I hope TA is successful this Saturday.

Your not taking into account the crazy Husker fans here. He comes out and has a good game there will be controversy. There was a controversy when Brion Carnes played a spring game, let alone a real game.

The playcalling last week makes me think at least someone on the coaching staff was aware.

As I have stated many times before, this is not something that heals quickly and is terribly painful and debilitating. Most do not have the power to overcome the pain and play at all. This young kid has been put in that situation over and over and over. I think the head coach knew of his problem, and Beck knew of the problem and have since the start of the season. Giving him two weeks to heal is not likely.

I would like to see him get the record, but Nebraska needs the best on the field. Personally for our chances in the BIG, Kellog most likely gives us our best chance. Loyalty is a strong factor on any team. He has shown that he deserves a chance, and if given that chance, it will pay dividends for years to come. Those that ride the pine will see that if you work and do what is asked, there will be a chance. That is needed on every team.

My guess is we will see Ron some this weekend, if he plays like a senior should, he will be capable of leading us in the conference games. If not, it will be Tommy, and again not a bad choice. But really do not want to throw a Freshman to the wolves if it is not needed. We have done it before, it could end up being Cody all over again, and for that matter Martinez.

I would prefer to see Ron do the job and do it well, the stuff legends are made of so to speak. Tommy is going to get his chance, Ron may not.

Glad it is football day, tired of all the who dunnit, why they did it and where do we go from here. Play football kids and have a ball.

66% completions and 9 touchdowns to 1 interception is not good, huh?

I thought he looked just fine, considering the conservative and inept playcalling depending on which game you're referring to.

You would think after 4 years, people would finally at least concede that Taylor is a "real" quarterback. He plays the position, doesn't he? He's not a ghost or apparition.

And I've heard a couple people call him a future superstar. Howard Griffith last year when BTN was here. Benning loves him, and I've heard Benning say that Beck loves him and called him a future superstar as well.

Be interesting to see him play a full game. I for one hope he lights it up big time. I liked Taylor and supported him the entire time but I'm ready to see what someone else can do.
