Big Red Breakfast Tweets

I'm excited to see what TA can do, and for a real QB to play for the first time in years. Taylor just has not looked good the first three games.

66% completions and 9 touchdowns to 1 interception is not good, huh?

I thought he looked just fine, considering the conservative and inept playcalling depending on which game you're referring to.

You would think after 4 years, people would finally at least concede that Taylor is a "real" quarterback. He plays the position, doesn't he? He's not a ghost or apparition.
Taylor has had good stats through the first 3 games, and I am a huge Taylor supporter. But, there was something missing against UCLA. He wasn't a threat to run, and it may have been his turf toe injury. Plus, Martinez is not a good "deep passer" so NU wasn't going to get any "big plays" against UCLA. As I said, I really like Martinez, but if he's not a threat to run, he is a very average QB.

Look, every single pass that TA completes tomorrow will get a HUGE roar from the crowd. Then in the end, his stats will have him completing around 60%, less than what TM does, but for some reason the fans will think it was an amazing accomplishment. Basically, it will be this big jizz fest for no real reason.

Fisher, about the Martinez turf toe: "I heard about it on Monday."
I hope there's not, but I just have this feeling that the Martinez era could very well at the end.
Why would it be the end? I'd think he'll rest one, maybe two weeks, and be back. Am I missing something, assuming he can heal up in a couple weeks?
I think there may be something more to this......

The coaches may not be happy at all about this situation. Do you think in any way, he kept his turf toe problem from the coaches!? If so, I wouldn't be happy if I was Pelini...

I hope he heals up quick, but I hope TA is successful this Saturday.
The playcalling last week makes me think at least someone on the coaching staff was aware.
Exactly. The things that these coaches expect us to blindly swallow completely amaze me. If they're being truthful, they've got some real communication issues amongst themselves--and that is even worse.

Jesus man, did you even watch the UCLA game. He had -21 yards rushing. Even the announcers said he looks like a senior in HS not a senior in college.

Sorry, those little bubble screen passes are padding his stats, without those he's well under 50%. He looks different this year, he's been hurt.

Taylor will not get drafted. Can you imagine this team with a top three round NFL quality QB, or god forbid a first round talent at QB? Just stop and think about having a good quality QB like Hundley Miller Murray Boyd or Johnny football.

We're instantly in the top ten. A&M gives up 600 and they are still in the game because of an elite QB.

The more wow factor will come when he doesn't fumble every time he is tackled while running the ball. I'll take a few less completion points for more ball security.

I hope the kid has a freaking great game! But what you will see is something like 60% completion, 175-200 yards, 40 yards rushing and probably two turnovers. Yet, that will still make many fans have a cream session in the old red/white overalls.

Now, I hope he goes for 75%...300 yards...4 TDs and another 100 yards rushing and 2 TD's but more than likely he will have an "average" game with mistakes and miscues.

Lets put it this way...the Jizz factor will be at an all time high this weekend and the number of "I told you so's" and "See, that is a real QB" will be around 75,000. Only to be outdone by the number of "Sit down you man, thank you" and "We don't yell loud in the section"

Rich Fisher said NU coaches "saw some good energy this week" and added that "you're going to see a different vibe" on Saturday #Huskers
I hope so. You gotta have some fun with these kids. Before the game and between every quarter you should have the team come together, have someone tell a joke, then have some guys start singing and do some jump around and get fired up no matter what the score is. Keep the energy up no matter what.

We are talented enough to be in every game we play, so keeping energy up at all times will keep games from getting away from you. Need some leaders walking around with some swagger on the sidelines when they're not on the field and keeping guys up. BRING BACK THE SWAGGER!!!!!!!!!! BE ARROGANT ON THE FIELD!!!!!!! BE GREAT!!!!!!! AND KNOW IT!!!!!!!

I know there will be a lot of focus on TA and RKIII at QB, but this is a game where we should ride our RB's. Spread 40 carries to Ameer, Cross, and Newby, and I will be happy.

If Tommy rolls out on the option, makes the defender commit to the rb, then tucks it under his arm and takes it 70 to the house, Bo's story will take a back seat to the new qb controversy.

I watched it; I was there. Seemed to me that he did what was asked of him, but was not given a good chance to succeed by Beck's gameplan. Something was obviously off, sure, but we didn't even try (and I don't mean oh lets just throw it up from the end zone and see what happens) to take strikes. When we did, such as in the redzone, we got three touchdowns out of it with perfectly thrown balls.

There are a few points I am confused about though.

You said he hasn't looked good at all, in the first three games, yet only mention UCLA. What did he do poorly against Wyoming and Southern Miss?

Also, bringing up the belief he won't get drafted - are you saying that is what qualifies him as not being a "real" quarterback? Tim Tebow is a real quarterback, then, yeah? But some of the best in our school's history aren't real quarterbacks.

Or is the point that he's not a real quarterback because he's not an elite quarterback? Which quarterback that's playing Saturday is a real quarterback, then? Ron or Tommy, and is it because somehow you know they are elite or because they are going to get drafted or..? I guess I just don't get what you're saying. Johnny Manziel is elite, sure, but he's also surrounded by elite talent and is given an aggressive, smart gameplan that gives him a great foundation to succeed.

You say this and then blame Beck for play calling with your next post. It can't go both ways. Beck's a little handcuffed with a fumbling machine, calls safe passes so be doesn't throw and int. it's fairly obvious.

Sorry I'm off the Tmart bandwagon. I will forever appreciate what he has done for this program, helping turn it around. He was fun to watch at times. But if you guys think there are aren't better options out there your nuts. I'm not going to sit, here and say they are on our roster, but we need to explore other options. Especially with the guy playing hurt.

This is why im saying there will be a controversy not because TA will do well. I have no idea how well he will play.
