Taking a job because you need one is one thing, taking a job that actually fascinates you is another. I am a grumpy old man, well according to some on here, but I take on new things all the time. If it is exciting and you want to do it, age will not be a factor as long as you are in good shape. Mike seems to be, I know things can change quickly, but he truly seems excited about this job and seems to be bringing excitement to the staff and the recruiting side.
He has a far better product to sell than he ever has before. At his age, this is a big step, much easier to finish out at Oregon State where not much was expected. Jumping to this program, shows there is fire in his belly. He wants to try and win with all the right tools. One last serious hurrah to make a better name for himself. I admire him for taking this job. I look forward to meeting him this spring. I followed him some at Oregon State, where he amazed me quite a few times.
This is a win win for Mike and Nebraska. NC's still remain doubtful, but being highly respected by the media, is going to help in many ways, recruiting maybe the biggest. Very excited to see what he does in the next few years.
