Why would anyone want Callahan back?

I'd take him back as the O-Line coach. In a heart beat.

Who the OL coach was really wasn't the point. Clownahan had made a living as an OL coach. It was the one position group where I thought we'd see the most improvement. Bo Pelini was hired to fix the defense even though he wasn't the DC.

It's odd that his line wasn't considered good. Callahan had several good O-linemen. Matt Slauson, Carl Nicks, Jacob Hickman, Brett Byford. All those guys were pretty good. I think Callahan recruited them all except for Byford.

That is exactly the point. Callahan was the head coach here, not the o-line coach. I think the last year he helped out with the o-line when it was struggling.
