Blackshirt Update.

Mitchell, Santos, Roach, Anderson, Gerry, Cockrell and Kalu are still wearing them. The five d-linemen, Cooper and Davie are not.

 
Just saw Sipple tweet this. How can you see your teammates take accountability for Saturday and leave their blackshirts in their lockers and still come out in yours?

 
This blackshirt crap that has been going on the past few years is non sense and has ruined the tradition. The giving them out before the year, during the year, taking them away, giving them back. It's all bullsh#t. At this point it's a pointless possession.

 
It's very strange. I wonder if it was a players or a coaches decision. Most likely the players but regardless, it doesn't look good. They should all be one as a unit, not individuals.

 
If I was Gerry or Anderson there is no way they would take my blackshirt. Only two players on that team that know how to tackle.

 
I'm at the point where I really don't even care anymore. Every year, it's the same thing.

"Oh, when is Bo going to handout the blackshirts??! OMG"

Then after a couple weeks of good football against lackluster squads, the blackshirts get handed out and we all get our hopes up that, somehow, this year will be different and the defense will play inspired, passionate and fundamentally sound defense. Maybe we play alright defense for at least another week or so, but whenever the games that matter the most are played and the lights are shining the brightest, the defense gets gashed repeatedly. Mind you, I'm not pinning any of the blowout losses on the defense because during these spectacular meltdowns, the offense generally plays with the precision of a drunken hobo.

So, after the annual romping or two, the blackshirts either get taken away again, players elect to no longer wear them in practice, folks speculate if Pelini might take them away, etc. The whole thing is rather silly and it just waters the tradition down. Does anyone really think that this will make a damn?

Give the blackshirts out at the beginning of the year to the starting defense and just be done with it.

If the Blackshirts truly meant something to the players, none of them would wear them to practice until they get their @#$% in order. Regardless of how some individuals might have played, the other team scored 59 points on us. The entire D should be upset by that fact alone.

 
This just goes to show the lack of leadership and the ship has sunk. Bo needs to take control of this thing, but clearly all is lost at this point. You either all wear them or no one does. If one person isnt deserving of a shirt on the starting unit then no one gets them. Its one for all and all for one. Shameful.......im disgusted worse than i was on Saturday. Just when you thought it couldnt get any worse.........
