Iowa had 125 yards in 1st half (62 on their opening driving). The Blackshirts held them to 70 yards in the 2nd half. Their 2nd longest drive was 24 yards that resulted in Stafford's INT. Papuchis is shaping up to be a good DC

(NU had 97 yds in the 1st half (75 on opening drive). 146 in the 2nd half)

It was not a fun game to watch because of how one-dimensional both teams had to be. But if our D-Line doesn't start winning the battle up front (or at least tying) then we will be in for a LONG day against a much more talented offensive line and RB from Wisconsin.

I know the conditions were pretty rough, but Iowa looked like a disaster offensively anytime they had to throw the ball. I haven't seen them play too much this year so I'm not so sure if it was our D, their offense or the weather that made em look so bad. I'll give the Blackshirts the benefit of the doubt.

Iowa put-up 7 points and one real drive the whole game. We gave-up 2.7yds a carry. We didn't win or tie up front?

I'm just freakin thrilled we won. I thought the defense played really well despite being knocked off the ball early and losing their best d lineman.

You cant hold a running back to 0 yards on every single play. Regardless of whatever push there was, for every decent gain their back had, he had 3-4 runs of 0 to Neg. yards. and if our Dline is getting pushed around a little like they were today at times, it's because they were doing their jobs. Demanding double teams and allowing the LB's to flow free. It's all part of our philosophy. It does look ugly at times, but it's part of the process of the most dominating defensive performance all year.

After Iowa's first drive, I heard the announcers saying that Coach Kaz ripped our D-line a new one. Asking them "What are they doing out there? What should you be doing?" I think he will be a nice fit here at Nebraska.
