Blow to the head

Taylor

Four-Star Recruit
Was wondering how this is any different from a punch. If you punch a player I believe you are thrown out of the game. How is this different? I think the player should have been kicked out. Any thoughts?

Nah man it was on top of the helmet.I dont think that was bad enough to be thrown out.

What im saying is how is it any different than if he hits him in the front of the helmet? He his still hitting him in the head.

They were saying on TV that the KSt player was "making a play at the ball," or so I thought they said.

I don't buy it, it looked really, really cheap to me.

Like Palmer said, it was a straight up donkey kong punch, right in front of the ref who quickly pulled his flag. Technically it wasnt really a 'fighting' type punch, so I think it deserved the flag but not the ejection. Total frustration is what it was

I have a feeling Taylor's gonna have to get used to that type of thing. The more recognition he gets, the bigger target he becomes. Glad to see the ref was in good position and was all over it. Really dumb play because Kstate had just stopped us on third down.

A downward fist thrust onto the top of a helmet is a little different than a blow to the face that could cause serious neck injury.

So you're saying there's a greater chance of injury in a tangential blow to the side of the head rather than a straight down blow that compresses the neck? Not buying that one at all.

Maybe I am just a little smarter than some people, but gee, Wally, if your going to punch someone, why would you punch them in the helmet where the only thing that is going to hurt is your hand? Duh! :moreinteresting

Yes, I am. Don't get me wrong... its illegal as Hell. But you just can't generate that much power with a down thrust.... maybe if he was standing above him on a ladder or something... then t would be way easier to cause serious injury. Think about it... you can generate way more power with a blow to the side of the head. It's science.

He got the flag.... deservedly so. Kick him out of the game? Na

I'm not saying they should kick him out of the game. I'm just saying I think you're underestimating the force a player can generate hitting a guy on the top of his head.
