Bo Pelini Stat Check @ Nebraska v.s. BCS conference schools

Scratchtown

All-Conference
Bo Pelini is 33-20 at Nebraska in games vs BCS conference schools. 18 of those 33 wins came against opponents who finished with a winning record, and 5 of those finished with a record of 9-5 or better. Here is the break down. 2 of those 18 wins vs opponents with winning records he split. (Washington 2010, and Wisconsin 2012, both of which lost 6 games those seasons)

2008: 6-4: defeated KU (7-5), and Clemson (7-6)

2009: 7-4: defeated MIZZ (8-5), OU (8-5) and Ariz (8-5)

2010: 7-4: defeated Wash (7-6), KSU (7-6), OkSt (11-2), Mizz (10-3)

2011: 6-4: defeated Wash (7-6), MSU (11-3), PSU (9-4), Iowa (7-6)

2012: 7-4: defeated Wisc (8-6), NW (10-3), Mich (8-5), MSU (7-6), PSU (8-4)

Out of all of his games while here at Nebraska, Bo Pelini is 5-15 against schools that finish the year 9-5 or better. With the other 5 losses coming vs 2009 ISU (7-6), 2010 Texas (5-7), 2010 Wash (7-6), 2011 NW (6-7), 2012 Wisc (8-6)

Take it for what its worth. I'm just putting the facts out there. Is Nebraska really a program that can't hire top coaches and pay top notch money for them. I would say that Nebraska deserves much better. To me, Bo needs to revamp the OLine staff, OC, DC, and reevaluate if he really wants to be here.

Oh yay....another thread about Bo's coaching ability/inability. Not that there hasn't been hundreds of those already

No, I like Beck. Sometimes, yes, he can ge ahead of himeself or even overthink things. But, look how much the offense has progressed under him.

I would add the Oline staff.....that's up for debate, yes. However, the offensive line has been the most impressive it has been in years. Is this more of a knee-jerk post because of last weeks game!? C'mon man......give it a few more games before we start to hit the panic button. Do I believe NEB can open up the check-book and find a top-notch coach? Yes....but it is going to much more difficult to do that no matter how much money your throwing at a coach if your program is firing a 9+ win-a-season head coach IMO.

Agreed. Beck is going to be an offensive whiz in a few years. I'm not so confident about the defensive side of the ball. I will say that our offensive line hasn't really impressed me much but overall I'm happy with our offense, the system we run, the players we're recruiting, etc.

I'd like to get some ROI on our investment in these coaches. A lot of them are cutting their teeth in their respective positions, like Beck as full-time OC, Papuchis as full-time DC, Bo as Head Coach, Fisher at WR (although maybe I'm misremembering his previous coaching experience at this level).

What I'd hate to see happen is these guys getting good at what they do, then promptly leaving for higher positions, either Head Coach or Coordinators for the lower staff. If we're going to be the on-the-job learning ground, I'd like to see them stick around a couple of years after they've perfected their craft.

Who cares? You are a self professed Oregon fan and have a man crush on Scott Frost. You say you hate the huskers. Good, then their stats shouldn't worry you! I for one don't waste 1 second worrying about the stats of a team I don't like!

Stats don't lie, but you want to fire the OC? Really? Did you watch how bad we were in 09 10?

Agree completely with Knapps comments, they better stick around. My biggest worry is getting back to elite in a few seasons and guys like Beck leaving, right before we have the best chance to win it all, and have to start over.

Sorry if I offended you, I don't spend every waking moment on the board. Just putting out the stats.
Stats that have been regurgitated on numerous occasions. If you want to add new and relevant information, great. Post away. But it seems to me you're just merely trying to rile up the anti-Pelini crowd.

I haven't seen these stats before so... Thanks Streeter for adding new and relevant information.

These stats are kind of stupid, IMO. We already know that Pelini's teams rank between 14th and 30th at the end of the season. I would wager that most teams who end up ranked in that region are going to have less than stellar records against the teams with better records. Otherwise they would have ended ranked higher. This information tells us nothing we can't figure out with the rankings.

You are probably right about the assumption of that. All it is, is putting numbers to it. So nothing is assumed but only factuated.
