Bo Pelini's defensive rankings the last 4 years

I still want to see anyone wearing a Blackshirt earn it from this point. I don't want them just handed out to every starter on the defense. I think we will have our Blackshirts back...but the feeling of being earned needs to return with them.
If I remember correctly, Pelini was big on, if you don't earn it you don't get it, if you get it, and don't earn it every week you'll lose it. I read it somewhere that this is what he did the year that he was here
The year he was here, after the Missouri game when we got beat 41-24 Pelini took the Blackshirts away. The next Saturday, the defense forced EIGHT turnovers as we walloped Texas A&M.

Kinda funny this year we lose 41-6 to Missouri and Coz or Callahan do nothing, what happened then. Oh we jsut go out and get destroyed by Ok St. I know that is all in the past, but it is kinda funny to think about.

He may not win every game...but f***...Huskers will never quit under Bo. That's all I ask. Play your a$$ off every minute, win or lose, and fans will respect that. Losses suck...but giving up and never having a shot in hell in the first place is unacceptable.
Wil Mushamp's defenses you mean, Pelini was the DB coach/Co-coordinator in name only. The LSU fans were complaining that Pelini wasn't aggressive, not enough blitzing. Bo better do some big time recruiting because I don't see the Huskers getting the 4/5 star recruits that Les Miles was getting at LSU.
Agreed. NU does not have a single player returning on defense that would start at LSU. I'd guess that perhaps 2/3 of our starters would not be in the two deep at LSU. If Pelini and the defensive coaching staff can take the NU talent (mid-conference talent overall, and lower than that on the defensive side of the ball) and crack the top 30 in defense --- well, he should get an award for coaching excellence.
