Boise St. Moves to Mountain West

i was just on espn.com and the headline read boise st. moves to mountain west, and so when i clicked on it the first sentence read bosie st. has just given the mountain west its 10th program. looks like the mountain west is going to jump on the expansion bandwagon to hopefully improve its confrence

This may signal that the Mountain West may want to move foreward as a BCS conference. Boise State is fighting for relevancy, and I don't think that they'd jump to another non-BCS conference unless that conference was set to expand.

I typically have pulled for Boise State but they have disappointed me here...move from one weak conference to another and you want legitimacy? They should have explored interests in aligning with a new Big 12...it is not like the Mountain West was going to reject them if they came later in the end anyway.

I wouldn't call the MWC weak. They are a big step up from the WAC. I even think they are a better conference than the Big East. Also they are fixing to get a AQ to a BCS bowl soon.

Now that Boise State is going to the MWC, I would think it is next to impossible to get Utah to the Pac 10 now.

I like the MWC, but I think Boise State is making a gamble here. They could very well flounder about in the MWC if they don't get BCS recognized, and considering the level of play in the MWC, it will be difficult to maintain dominance as they did before.

Is it looking like the leftover Big 12 schools will end up in the MWC?
I kinda hope MWC does at least offer the leftovers for the sake of Fro and Jayhawk. And my boy turner gill of course (i don't personally know him i just refer to some people as "my boys" sometimes.)

great move for Boise State, MWC is not a push over league infact they destroyed the pac 10 last year head2head!! if they can land Kansas that would be huge for them especially for basketball

Adding Boise before July 1st will allow the MWC to use them in the formula that the BCS uses to ascertain which conferences get automatic bids. IIRC it was said that the MWC was on the cusp of getting it and I think adding Boise will allow them to get the AQ status.

I'd be interested to see if the Mountain West brings in the leftovers from the Big 12 here. You would have:

Air Force

BYU

Colorado St.

New Mexico

San Diego St.

TCU

UNLV

Utah

Wyoming

Boise St.

Iowa St.

Kansas

Kansas St.

If Notre Dame takes the plunge into the Big 10 then I think they add an invite to Mizzoo, if not, then Misery falls into this conference.

With Boise State now in MWC. Im expecting the MWC is now sitting themselves to replace the Big 12 as an AQ. I expect them to add the Big 12 leftovers, KU, KState, Mizzou, ISU, Baylor and one more team to make them a 16 team conference.

i would have been happy letting the tx schools go to pac 10 and us picking up some of the mwc teams like TCU (i realize it is another tx school) and getting boise st. and keeping the big 12. maybe added utah and colorado st.

Read on ESPN ticker, that the MWC has talked to Baylor about joining the conference and is inquiring about KU,Kstate, and Mizzou.

The domino's are really starting to fall fast.
