Bold Predictions - Preseason Edition

-Deontre Thomas redshirts this year.

-Because of injury Aaron Williams and Tre Bryant redshirt this year.

- Stanley Morgan gets 1000 yards and is a Biletnikoff award finalist

-Bell and Ozigbo combine for 1500 yards

-Two o-lineman are named 2nd team all big ten

-average points put on the defense is 23

-average points put up on offense is 39

-we end the season 10-3 or 11-2

Our starting QB will be on the Heisman watch list for 2019.  Our 2nd string will transfer and eventually play a game against us before his career is over.

I can buy the first part, but not the second - our non conference opponents for 2020/2021 (they'll have to sit out 2019) are Cincinnati, Central Michigan, SDSU, Northern Illinois, Buffalo, and Oklahoma. If it's Martinez who transfers you could add North Dakota and Georgia Southern in 2022, and there are always bowl games. I'm assuming they don't sit out the extra year to stay in the big ten, but AJ Bush did end up back at Illinois so who knows!

I think if one of them transfers, they will land at a big school.  I think either of them would be in the running to start at 80+% of power 5 schools.

We used to do these and seemed like we got away from them last year. I thought they were fun. With Akron prep about a week away, seems like a good time to start a thread. These are my season bold (or not) predictions.

Stanley Morgan surpasses 1000 yards receiving.

Maurice Washington surpasses 1000 yards rushing.

Avg defensive sacks 2.5 or greater

Avg defensive turnovers 2 or greater

4 or more Huskers drafted

Michigan is in the national title picture heading into the Ohio St game

UCF finishes with at least 3 losses

1) Yes

2) Ozigbo, not Washington, was the 1000 yard rusher.

3) No - 1.9 sacks per game. 2.5 sacks per game is only about 40th in the nation. That was the more conservative pick.

4) No - 1.5 defensive turnovers per game. 2.0 turnovers is about 15th in the nation. This was the bolder pick.

5) Unknown

6) Absolutely

7) No - Frost had that team built good, Heupel has done well continuing that and the American Conference really fell off this year.

Does Oregon State count as a “big school”?  It’s one of the worst Power 5 schools.

Way too much Kool-Aid was drunk.

But I predict there will be a shortage of Kool-Aid during the offseason as Husker nation drinks to excess.  ;)    :koolaid2:
