Bo's record speaks for itself!

If you read A F post he said that Frank should have been given another year to blow it. All I said was we have no idea what would have happened. Frank could have blown it or been successful. We will never know. Same as today. We could give Bo some more time to grow as a first time head coach or we could fire him like A F wants to do. I'm just glad that T O clipped Harvey's wings so we will get to find out.

TO's first rankings as head coach were: 4th, 7th, 9th, 9th, 9th, 12th, 8th, 9th. These are all better than Pelini has produced. (14th was the best and was done with Cally's recruits.) If you're waiting for a top-notch team out of Pelini, I'm guessing you'll be waiting more than another 4 years.

 
You're right they are. But there weren't scholarship limitations then either. We also had a freshman team to help develop talent and there were only about 15 to 20 decent football teams in the country. Not to mention that we played a pretty weak Big 8 conference. Why don't you dig out a media guide and see how many years T O lost to Iowa St and Missouri and was still ranked.

You're aware that Tom Osborne finished Top 10 in one or both the coaches and AP poll in each of his first sixteen seasons, right?

You're aware that in the last six years, the number of coaches who have finished in the Top 10 or have made a BCS bowl and that this is not a small number, right?

Now you're doing what everyone is accusing the anti-Bo guys of doing. Downplaying his wins. If one group get to tout Bo's nine win seasons, then the other group gets to tout TO's early season rankings.

 
My point is that under your criteria. Osborne wasn't cutting the mustard. Upset loses, no conference titles and zero national championships. And people wanted him fired but Devany stuck with him. Look how good that turned out.

Are you clairyoyant or something. You keep telling everyone that they don't know anything about football or they don't know what would have happened. Well guess what, you don't know what would have happened either.

The TRUTH (as anyone saw it), was that Frank was a weak recruiter. And it's highly probable that he wasn't going to be able to coach a less talented team to greater heights. But that is just speculation. Tell us what your crystal ball says would have happened.

I think the crystal ball might've said that most teams on any level weren't going to run the option as a primary offense and that trying to recruit specifically for it wasn't going to work out so well.
