Bowl Outlook

I was up there this summer, it took nearly three hours to get through Oakland going along the 480. I am 75 miles east of Los Angles.

We are cancelling out. Family coming in from Colorado, so will not be going to the game.

Are you in Yucaipa skersfan?

Anyway, I know traffic is bad in frisco no matter what time you go up to that hell-hole, but it shouldn't be as bad the Saturday after Christmas (if that is where the Huskers end up). Of course if you have family coming out you wouldn't be able to just up and leave them down here, but we don't get to see the Nebraska play very often, so I think we'll head up for the game. Besides, as I said above, I have never been to Levi Stadium, and I won't go up there just to see the niners play (I don't support any no-cal sports), so it would be nice to check out the new stadium.

Actually up 243 (South of Banning) towards Idyllwild.

I had planned on going, but an 87 year old cousin is driving over from Phoenix for Christmas, leaving Saturday morning to go home. It could happen, but I doubt I could make it. Could drive the roadster up, but that is a very long trip in that thing. Not to mention coming back.

I had planned on driving the motor home up on Christmas night, and having a tailgate. Going to miss out on that for sure.

Trust me guys, grew up there in Nebraska City and Omaha. I have never been as cold as I have in SoCal. Used to work for Edison at a steam generator site on the coast. That fog rolls in with wind, it chills you to the bone. Could not believe it was so cold and it was 40 degree/

SFran at night can get cold, not temperature wise, but feeling wise sometimes very similar.

Got it. I'm in Rancho Cucamonga

Yeah, we stopped in frisco on a family driving vacation one summer (freakin' summer for Christ's sake!) and we damn near froze our azzes off. That's when I realized that frisco isn't really part of California. I don't care how much they tell me it's Cali, I'll never believe that any part of California can be that cold, during the middle of the day, in the middle of the summer.

Anyway, I think if they are invited to the Chicken Bowl we'll head up for the reasons I stated earlier. We will probably get up real early and drive up day-of, stay over one night and drive back on Sunday. It's not that bad a drive and we may go drive over the Big Red bridge and drive the crooked road just for the heck of it while we're there.

Of course, if no Chicken Bowl, this is all mute.

Californians for Nebraska is the largest contingent outside the state. Or at least that is what they claim. No idea how many are in the Sfran area.

Long drive up there, but I have switched on call dates, so ready to go, I think. Makes for a short Christmas is the only draw back, and driving on the 5 and 480, the garbage piles of California freeways. 615 kickoff, will make it a very chilly night. Drive 20 hours, I may have talked myself out of this.
We just stood in 24-degree weather, with a 15-mph wind, for four hours at the Iowa game. I think you Californians can handle some light jacket weather for this one.

Yeah, no kidding. My 5 y/o took it like a champ in his first time ever being in below freezing temps. We had to go to the apparel store after the 1st Q and buy extra socks because his feet were freezing. He had an absolute blast though, all huddled up in his blanket with mom and dad. He made sure to stand up when the crowd did, yelled his little head off, and told the Iowa fans good game on the way out. Baptism by fire I guess.

Gotta give a shout to my nine year old little dude. For the Iowa game, left the car at 1pm and returned to it at 7. Got in our seats at 130 and never complained once. Add to it we had to travel 16 hours to the game from a warm climate. Football is made to be played in the cold and it sounds like HB is raising their little ones tough. Yeah, no kidding. What position do you project him to play? I see a CB or safety, frame is too small for a lineman.

He really likes punting, so IDK. He can't catch very well, but he can throw ok. Right now we only do baseball in the spring because we don't wanna conflict with our CFB saturday's.
