Sean Callahan:
By getting a seventh win on Saturday, Nebraska’s bowl options grew considerably. At this point, every non-playoff bowl is on the table, other than New York, since the Huskers went there in 2024.

Bowls are allowed to select a 7-win team over an 8-win squad, so that could put some very attractive options like Tampa and Nashville in play. If the Huskers were to reach eight wins, Orlando could also be a real possibility. Sign me up for any of them.

If we get a 9th, which I don't think is likely, we probably could get the best of the Big Ten non-playoff bowls unless someone gets left out of the playoffs that shouldn't be. If TJ and EJ announce they are leaving right away, it could hurt some because we'd be without our star players.

I know a lot of fans like Tennessee, but I would think that would be one of the locations players would want to go to the least.

I don’t think TJ will announce he is leaving anytime before a bowl game, if ever. EJ could easily opt out if he chooses to leave, but I would be shocked if TJ would consider that at that time.

Speculation that it's shaking out like this:
  • Michigan has a very good shot of getting into the Playoff if they beat Ohio State. If not, they likely go to the Citrus Bowl.
  • Nebraska/Iowa may be a play-in game for the ReliaQuest Bowl.
  • If the Huskers lose to Iowa, it's probably Vegas or Nashville, with Illinois going to the other.

I love how every Music City bowl has us playin in-state team or in some cases, the in-city team.

It would be fun to play Tennessee with the schedule kerfuffle earlier in the year. Vandy would be Diego Pavia loudly campaigning for a 9th season of football. I was scratching my head wondering if Nebraska has ever played Memphis? I don't remember a game with them.
