Breaking News!!!

I think that he will toe the line and stay out of trouble. With a 5 year probation hanging over his head if he does get introuble I think he could spend 5 years in the pokey on a probation violation charge.

AR help me out on this........right or wrong?

I do not see any future problems with this kid. He messed up and the system got his attention. Lets move on and enjoy his carrer at Nebraska.

From my experience yes he would then go to prison, but probably not for five years. Most likely he would do like 20 months or something like that.

If he screwed up and the original charged were re-instated, he would have to do all the time. In Oregon, this is a manditory sentence and even the judge can not give less time. This type of utter stupidity and gross misuse of the legal system happens allot in Oregon. This type of situation is not what the law was put in place for but, would definately fall in that catigory.

Major has no choice but to be on the straight and narrow. He doesn't have a rap sheet from earlier in his life, he just was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was invited to the dorm, then asked to leave. Most boys his age would hump a knot holl in a tree if the tree had enough bumps in the right places. They are like dogs with all females in heat. He did grope her, then did not leave right away. The paper said she pushed him out of the room. I don't see any little lady pushing him around. The Burglery charge came from not leaving emediately. WTH He didn't steal anything. ONE screw up! I wish him all the luck in the world. He seems like a good kid. Also, he needs to stay the hell out of Oregon.

I heard the girls in the dorm didn't want the charges to be as hard as they were going to be, so they lowered them. I just want him to put this all behind him, but if he starts playing well, some media outlet will get a hold of it and start asking him questions about that night.

Yes the girls did want the charges lessened. The DA decided much later on what HE wanted to do. Power hungry, over zealous, self promoting law enforcement. Their should be some review proceedures put in place to stop this type of thing from happening. These peoples lives should be taken into acount before their own carreers. I have seen this type of thing way too many times in Oregon. I believe the only reason the charges were lessened is because it would not stand up in court. If Major would have decided to go to trial his football career at Neb would have been over. Wrong place, Wrong time. I feel bad for the kid. He did need to learn a lessen, but, not by a public flogging.

How about - maybe? ;)

There are generally two kinds of probation:

1. The period of probation is same as the sentence. Under this type, any violation results in you serving the remainder of your sentence - not the full sentence. So, if you have a 5-year probation, and you screw up at the end of year 4/beginning of year 5, you only serve a year.

2. The sentence is deferred pending completion of the probationary period. Under this type, the judge sets the sentence after you screw up. In the example above, the kid screws up at the end of the 4th year/beginning of the 5th year. The judge hauls his a$$ back in court and sentences him to, say, 20 years. The upside of this kind of probation is that if you keep your nose clean you might get your record expunged.

It varies from state-to-state, but generally, that's the way it goes.

AR---I guess that answers my question, I think, well maybe, ummmm I dont know. UGHHHHH

to much legalize, just kidding

thanks

Anyone see ESPN just about 15 min ago talk about Major and compare his situation to LP's? All they did pretty much was trash the situation...worst part of all it was a lady talking like she knew what she talking about... <_<

I was watching Rome is burning on our favorite network espn. There was some chick subbing for rome today.

She want on a rant ripping Callahan for taking Culbert back. The ironic thing is that the other person charged in this was given his schollie as well, but you dont here anyone saying anything about that.

Folks we have to face the fact that the media does not like Callahan. I personally dont give a sh#t weather they like him or not. I hope Calli comes through and puts some big things together here just to stick it to all these sportswriters who have seemed to stereotype him as a bad guy.
