Brook Warren Berringer was an American quarterback for the University of Nebraska football team in the mid-1990s. Berringer came to Nebraska from Goodland, Kansas, and played a back-up role to Tommie Frazier. Wikipedia

When I was a kid, I attended a football camp that Brook was helping at. My mom was obsessed with him. She got him to lay accross the hood of her cadillac for a picture at the camp one day. The guy was so down to earth and blue collar that he proceeded to hang around and have a 20 minute conversation with my family. I'm going to find that pic and post it.

 
I remember my dad playing this one early Saturday morning sometime before Brook died. Never knew it was about him until much later. Such a great song.
