MR will fire one coach per year so it looks like he is taking action to improve
You think so lowly of him that you don't think he's actually trying to improve by getting better coaches. He's just trying to make it look that way.MR will fire one coach per year so it looks like he is taking action to improve
Agreed, also, imo when he left that was the last coach in the room willing to at least challenge Bo on decisions.Bos defense went to crap when Carl left.Carl's off the field bullsh#t ended his good gig as DC here, not the on the field product. Quite different than Riley firing someone for poor on the field results.Ummm, a certain booster and an illicit relationship Carl was having with his married daughter tell a different story.Watson went because he wasn't Bo's yes man.Listen, I'm not big on Pelini but if you don't think Shawn Watson and Carl Pelini moving on weren't "highly encouraged" by Bo you are crazy.Which is more than Bo ever did in 7 years. Riley has fired 2 guys in 2 years.Even if it's just rearranging chairs, at least we know that Riley is trying to make changes to get the team in the best position to be successful.Remains to be seen if this will be effective or if this is rearranging chairs on the titanic.Riley is realizing that NU isn't Corvallis and there are actual expectations from the coaches.
Which one actually tried patching the leak and which one said screw it and set the ship on fire?
"highly encouraged" meaning you're fired but I will give you a chance to save face.
I'm pretty sure Carl taking a HC job had very little to do with Bo insisting he take it. lol
Why did he hire them in the first place? Its not like he wasn't familiar with their work. I lost all hope for a MR team when he named his staff. One replacement per year isn't going to get it done. You think so lowly of him that you don't think he's actually trying to improve by getting better coaches. Deeeeeeerrrrrp.
...and the all-so-coveted stat of two d**k whip-outs in the same night. Hard to do.Avery Moss had 10 sacks, 8 qb hurries, 4 forced fumbles, and 42 tackles. 28 were solo.
He would have had eligibility left right?
Are you really Fo Fifty in disguise? Your lack of understanding of the rule, which only applies to kickoffs, makes me very suspicious.No...if it goes into the endzone on a punt, you get it at the 25. That change was made like 3-4 years ago.25, huh? If it goes out of bounds, you get it where it goes out of bounds. If it goes in the end zone, you get it at the 20.When your team has an average starting position of the 12 (IIRC) and you could probably let it go and guarantee your offense the 25 if it bounces.... ehhh, it's at minimum debatable.Generally speaking, no.Do you think it is smart for the punt returner to catch it at the 6 yard line? I certainly don't.
When your team is down 26-10 near the end of the third quarter and has been struggling on offense all game? I don't have a problem with it.
Not knowing this one rule doesn't make Redux an idiot![]()
The touchback yardage was only changed for kickoffs, to try to limit injuries. Punts are all over the field and probably don't have as many injuries since you have players at the line slowing the cover team down. So the touchback for punts and all other plays is still at the 20.
Only on the rarest of occasions. When we have potentially the best punt returner in the country we're supposed to watch for the fake punt 95% of the time and the other 5% have the wrong number of players on the field. Not knowing this one rule doesn't make Redux an idiot![]()

Oh..that's right.....that's what they are supposed to do.
That screams knowing the right people rather than being the best option.Hired as Special Teams Coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes.
Heard Gary Sharp make multiple references how Read "stole" money from the university. He was facetious, but I think mentioned how Read packed-it-in often during practice, implying he was rarely around.
I think we all know Read was worthless, but did anyone catch any recent quotes to spur Sharp's comments?
Also, Benning added more to that day he spoke with Banker where Banker kept erasing his defense and couldn't communicate his philosophy...It was interesting to hear the two reactions he received from Riley and then Banker when McMullen quit.
The end of the first segment and entire second segment was insightful.
OWH report:
Lightbourn said Nebraska's specialists wouldn't stay for the entire practice under previous special teams coordinator Bruce Read, but now, they stick around until the end. Lightbourn said NU specialists used to practice for a half-hour, then leave. Incidentally, Read would, too — he often greeted reporters while walking to his car well before practice was over.
