BTN Unveils Prime-Time Lineup

No Husker games will be televised by the Big Ten Network in prime time this year. With two of our major games already picked up by ABC/ESPN (Wiscy and OSU), this is probably not a shock. Washington will likely be picked up by ABC/ESPN as well, most likely as a 2:30 regional telecast (unless the Huskies are undefeated and looking good, then who knows). In fact, I would imagine most of our games will get major carrier consideration, with only a few like Tenn-Chatt, Wyoming and maybe Fresno State and Minny being relegated to the BTN as afternoon games.

The BTN prime-time lineup:

Youngstown State at Michigan State, Friday, Sept. 2
Virginia at Indiana, Sept. 10
Arizona State at Illinois, Sept. 17
North Dakota State at Minnesota, Sept. 24
Michigan at Northwestern, Oct. 8
Northwestern at Iowa, Oct. 15
Penn State at Northwestern, Oct. 22

Just so long as all of our games are televised (so I can rub the locals' nose in it), I'll be happy. chuckleshuffle

Even having an 11am game will be fine for me--it's still better than that s***** Big XII PPV s*** that the conference always stuck us with. We had--what--three games on that s*** last fall, and OU, aTm, and UT had one each last season?

Its usually the the small time nonconference games that aren't televised. With such a tough schedule, i don't see any of our conference games not being picked up to be televised, especially if we do well this season. The nation will crave to see The Big Red take over The Big Ten!

There are no regional Big Ten games anymore. If it's made regional on ABC, there has to be a national ESPN mirror. Its one of the perks!

The BiG Network should pick up any games that the other partners don't (ABC/ESPN) so any of the non-conference games that don't get picked up by one of those for Nebraska should be aired on the network regionally in Nebraska. At least that is how it has worked for all the other schools so I imagine it will be the same thing for Nebraska. Even Indiana gets its games televised, although they are only on that schedule for primetime, their other non-primetime games will be aired on the network if not picked up by someone else.

I think ABC/ESPN picked up the Ohio State/Miami game on September 17th for 7pm kickoff. Washington game will be 2:30pm, Im willing to bet the farm on it.

 
I thought during Football season the Big Ten Network added like more channels to show other Big 10 games. So we won't be able to watch every cupcake game on the Big Ten Network?

That is my thought also. Almost like a regional thing, if the game you wanted to watch wasnt on in your area, you can switch to one of the alternate channels to watch and that alternate channels would only be active during the gametimes.

We need some clarification from our BigTen buddies.

See my post above. The Network airs any games not picked up by the conferences other partners (ABC/ESPN) regionally. So if Nebraska plays whoever directional school early on in non-conference at the same time OSU plays say Akron and ABC/ESPN don't pick up either game the BiG Network will air it regionally (i.e., the OSU game will be aired in Ohio while the Nebraska game is aired in Nebraska). I believe that last year only 2 of the 132 games the entire season were not aired and they have said they are trying to get to the point where every single game is aired whether it be nationally or regionally. Nebraska should have no issue seeing airtime on the network regionally this year for the games that ABC and ESPN don't pick up.

DirecTV, Dish Network and some cable providers add BTN subchannels for all games on the BTN at the same time. So if you have DirecTV or Dish then you will see all games broadcasted on the BTN even with 3 to 4 games on the channel at the same time.

 
There are overflow channels on BTN for football season. For instance, here in Philadelphia, Comcast has the BTN on channel 715 (and 855 for HD). The overflow channels are on 711, 712, 713, 714, so they can televise multiple B1G games at once. (Unfortunately as of yet Comcast doesn't carry the overflow channels in HD, which sucks.)

You can find out if you get the overflow channels here. Just type in your zip code and select your cable provider, and the Gamefinder will let you know if you get them.

If you don't get the overflow channels and you live in Husker country, you will at the very least be able to watch Nebraska on the main BTN channel since the games are regionally televised.

The BTN's primetime schedule essentially took every school that didn't have a primetime game on ABC/ESPN and gave them a primetime game. That's probably why Nebraska's game against MSU didn't get picked; you guys already have primetime games against Wisconsin and Ohio State.
