Bucs Interested In Carriker

Walk-on
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have apparently taken a liking to Nebraska DE Adam Carriker at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. Here is a link to the article that talks about him and the Bucs' interest in drafting him. The article even says the Bucs had a 30-minute interview with Carriker while in Mobile.

Thoughts?

That is awesome that the Bucs are looking at him, but they will more than likely have to trade down in the first to take him or trade back into the first by giving up some of their other picks to draft Carriker. The Bucs would be a good fit for AC as he would probally back up Rice this year as well as rotate along the rest of the line, and then move into the starting spot next year at DE.

makes me think that Grudens trip to NU preseason was to get a early look at Adam
I was thinking the same thing. Also in the Sr Bowl practices Gruden rode Carriker extra hard. I think he was testing him and from the sounds of it...Adam passed with flying colors!

with all of the good things that Gruden has been saying about Adam, he might have to draft him at #4 or someone else will take him.

i agree that they could do alot worse. does anyone know what their needs are at DE. I dont really follow the Buc's or the NFL really

Their starters are Greg Spires and Simon Rice. Rice sort of had a down year this year and I believe the Bucs just resigned him for a one year deal in hopes that he goes back to his 05 form or at least to groom a replacement. There backups are nothing but rotational players and probally not starter material for the defense Tampa wants to run. So they will probally draft a DE this year, but I don't know if they will take Carriker that high in the first. However, if AC were to fall to the second round, a bunch of teams will be all over him.
