Burkhead returns to practice

Burkhead back in pads: Nebraska true freshman running back Rex Burkhead returned to practice Wednesday, five weeks after he suffered a hairline fracture in his foot.

Great to have him back. Hopefully that foot healed perfectly and he can get back into some sort of rhythm.

Ever since what happened to old Spano is my Man-o a few months back, I'll be worried about guys coming back too early. Hopefully, the staff will wait until he's REALLY ready.

That's great news. I really enjoy his game. We'll probably see him against the Buffs a little bit to get him ready for Texas (not getting ahead of myself) if the Huskers beat K State this week.

I wouldn't expect them to throw him into the mix 100% right off. Hopefully he can contribute more maybe in Colorado or hopefully at the Big XII Championship game if we beat K-State. This is good news.

There might be a difference between Burkhead being ready to practice and ready to play. They may not be willing to throw him into a game time situation yet because the foot isn't 100%.
