Bye Week #2 Pressers

Rhule is finally feeling what a warm welcome to Lincoln really feels like.

Coach, you and your staff just flat out suck in the run game. Some stats to hammer home the point from this site for rushing yards per game:

  • Iowa = #10
  • Indiana = #30
  • Penn State = #33
  • Ohio State = #34
  • Rutgers = #41
  • Wisconsin = #51
  • Oregon = #61
  • Michigan = #62
  • F***ing Purdue = #75
  • Washington = #76
  • Illinois = #89
  • Nebraska = #104

17 points scored against Ohio State where several ridiculous reffing calls held us back compared to 21 points against a 2-5 UCLA team where reffing calls kept us moving forward is just crazy.

I know there is nothing Rhule could say right now to make this better, but Rhule did not say anything that made this better.
He spoke with actions by hiring one of the brightest offensive minds in the industry today.  There is literally nothing he could have done better imo.  He is clearly doing what he can to address the problems his team is facing.

Well... He could have made him OC before the season started, but nobody's perfect...

We are definitely consistent, we consistently play up or down to the level of the opponent 99/100 times.  About the only consistent thing we do for the last decade or so.
It’s almost crazy enough to think there is some sort of interference going on.

just rewatched Spotlight, so all I’m seeing right now is a scandal and coverup.

I'm really excited about bringing Holgorsen in, but I'm not positive that would have gone well. Ask Wisconsin how the Air Raid is going in the Big Ten. I think his knowledge is going to be valuable, but I don't think the plan is to pivot the entire offensive style. We obviously need some big changes, but part of what we sold Raiola was our offense preparing him for the NFL. Air Raid > NFL still has a pretty poor success rate.

Was it OC or consultant that time too?
It was consultant, which is why I'm assuming he took a similar role in Texas instead. But now this is a consultant role with a (seemingly) direct path back into an actual coaching job.

Then why is anyone upset about what he has said?  You are correct, there isn't anything he says that is going to make Husker fans happy.  He has explained actions that he is taking to try to help the offense.  I get it that Husker fans aren't happy with that.  So.....why listen to the press conference if there isn't anything he could have said to make you happy?

A good portion of our fan base secretly enjoys being ticked off.

And I know it wasn't popular at the time, and still isn't.  But this is the mentality that I think of, when I say that certain parts of the Husker fan base are not helping this program get any better.  If it hasn't gotten better over 3-4 coaching staffs, and countless administrations and players.  At some point, we have to look at the common denominators to everything.  One of those things being the fans. Not all of them, just a very vocal minority.
