Cal debt from stadium

I love college football and I love the renovations the program did to the stadium.

However, if I were a Cal grad or student, I would be friggen pissed off about this.

There is no way in hell I would support using academic funds or even raising tuition to pay for this.

Perhaps they should have spent *more* on their stadium. Tuition at Cal Berkeley is only $12,834--one of the biggest bargains in higher education. They could double that and easily get as many students as they want.

This is particularly painful with the huge hole the entire University of California system is already in.

This author is quite the jerk. Yeah, the stadium has a bunch of renovated bathrooms and concourses, but lets not forget that the stadium lies on a MASSIVE fault line. It has been said before that if an earthquake were to happen during a football game, like, 40,000 people would die (rough estimate of Cal football attendance). Much of the renovation dealt with bringing the stadium up to seismic standards i.e. earthquake-proofing the stadium. Naturally, this guy, and I'm sure countless others, just see the bottom line without regard for the rhyme and reason.
