Callahan and his salary

i am sure that if PSU fired Paterno and had to buy out his contract then they would have to list what he was making to let the taxpayers know where their taxmoney is going
when i read that the first time around, i thought you wrote taxidermy.

totally diferent meaning. not sure what i was thing.

Freudian slip, no doubt...

Callahan's money situation is safe and will be get more safe. People have to remember that 1.3 or 2.3 million dollars is a big deal. However in the NFL....I'm sure Callahan knows the score. I can only assume he is laughing right now with this salary thing. He coached players that had million dollar houses and cars.

Callahan will be ok with his milk money for now.....all he wants to do is direct a college football team. In fact...I think he enjoys that the players don't make more than he does. It makes him a college football coach.

could be wrong, but i think he would rather recruit than handle the big money-ego players of the NFL........i think he may also like the "teaching" part of college ball

but who knows? he may slip back to the pro ranks in a couple years after he achieves some success here.......the more success they have (him and coz) the more the NFL will come calling....not much left for proven coaches in the NFL, a lot of old recycled guys and that's about it........

As far as A&M (read: our) Coach has done, not much. 3 years, 16-19. (By comparison, our basketbal coach has completed one of the most remarkable turnarounds in NCAA History with less talent)

Basically, he got the raise by getting us to the Cotton Bowl. The assumption was that we would continue to get better. He's not a favorite right now. The hot coach everyone wants to hear speak is our BASKETBALL coach, pretty imprssive for such a football school.

The thinking is that if we don't go 8-4 or 9-3 this year and win 2 out of 4 against OU, NU, Tech, and UT, then he's gone. Esp. since 3 of those games are at Kyle.

and now you have your token Aggie response :)

You generally have to give him a good five years to see if he can turn a program around. Exceptions would be the example of John Blake, who in three years had made OU worse.

Well, he has to show us something this year in order to keep what little credibility he has. Very few in College Station are still actively supporting him. We now have the talent, and 4 recruiting classes for him to work with, including a Sophomore QB who had more offensive production than Vince Young in our game against t.u. last year. IF there's a time for him to show he earns that salary, should be this year.

And for the record, he is the one recent hire for a head coach that our AD, Bill Byrne DIDN'T do. All of his others are doing very well in Aggieland. Some are even saying to can him so Byrne can work his magic again. He's proven to be quite good at picking HCs for our program.
