8 interceptions thrown in the first 3 games last year, only 4 so far in the first 3 games.but we were expecting some improvement
10 fumbles last year (4 of them lost), 8 fumbles this year (3 of them lost in the first game)
There's improvement. Turnovers might not be big to some people but turnovers can change a game in matter of seconds. Anyone who doesn't believe that is just plain crazy. Everyone will agree that Zac does not have a strong arm like Joe Dailey did, but i would take less turnovers if it meant lower passing yards.
2nd year of the offense, first year for Zac Taylor, Frantz Hardy, Marlon Lucky, Cody Glenn, and that's not counting the inexperience of J.B Phillips and Sievers at Tight end and a couple of offensive lineman like Murtha, C Thomas, Greg Austin. Nunn and Mulkey also are inexperienced recievers. Recall Pilkington was the go to guy when it came to WR and Herian was the go to guy when it came to tight end. Last year Matt Herian tore it up in the first 3 games catching 17 passes for 200 yards. This year, Sievers has 3 catches for 22 yards and J.B Phillips has 2 catches for 7 yards. That's 5 catches for 29 yards. There's where the major production was last year and where it's lacking this year. Frantz has sort of picked up for Pilkington last year and is still learning , but we have no real threat at the other WR position (unless you want to consider Nunn's couple of big catches) and no difference maker at TE.I mean, it is the 2nd year of the billy c. regime, he has HIS qb running the show, HIS receivers on the field getting the majority of the passes, and almost all of the running backs are HIS
Callahan and his staff are getting freshman THEY recruited as much playing time as they can this year so that next year, less and less of the Solich recruits are starting.
