Callahan's thoughts on Osborne

I hadn't seen this, but just now read it on another board. I find this amazing and it speaks loudly about Callahan's respect for Osborne and I would say NU tradition in general. This is from a St. Louis paper:

Earlier in the week during a press conference, Callahan was asked that in light of all the recent upsets in college football, whether he now has a much deeper appreciation for coach Osborne and his tremendous accomplishments..

Bill Callahan's answer:

"I appreciate what everyone did — (Notre Dame's) Frank Leahy, (Oklahoma's) Bud Wilkinson, they all accomplished tremendous things..."

Bulls*%t. There isn't even a janitor left from the Osborne days in the Nebraska Football Program. I say he didn't understand (and to a greater degree and much more responsible Steve P didn't understand) what Big Red means to Nebraskans. Shock and Awe was the name of the game when they attacked this program.

This has been a terrible experiment in regime change and I don't know where or how to change the slide. I'm just sick, these guys have screwed up the tradition of Nebraska Football so bad....

He should appreciate what COACH (Osborne) did for the program! COACH Osborne was a great coach and an even better man. Long live Coach Osborne. I mean that, seriously. Go Huskers!

agree, let's give them 2-3 more years to show us what they can do. if no results, boot the bastards out!

2-3 years?!?! the team will be non-existant by then. potential recruits will be looking at us and saying "they used to be good...but that was a long time ago" 2-3 more years memorial stadium will be empty because of fed up fans not wanting to see witness a public disgracing of the state, the university, and the tradition of husker football. 2-3 years is too long.

yeah but you could bet against them each week and make a boat load of cash. We'll never be able to cover any spread with Cally at the helm,,,,,,

Callahan seemed to deflect Osborne's name when asked Tuesday if he has deeper appreciation of what Osborne achieved as he tries to restore the program to dominance..
..as he tries to restore the program to dominance...er..mediocrity

f#*k BC, he wouldn't have the facilities or players if it wasn't for Osborne and Devaney.

That smug little b!^@h needs to go away.
