Cameras at red lights.

Black boxes are coming to our cars in the next couple of years. Just think if the municipalities wish to activate those every time you go a mile above the posted speed limit? What would stop them from doing it? Just think of the money they could rake in. Big Brother is watching.
. . . or you could obey the speed limit?

Not sure how this gets to Big Brother levels.
You don't see how having a black box which could potentially monitor your speed and driving habits, and even locations you visit could lead to Big Brother?

/ Here, let me fold a tin foil hat for you.

If it logs locations, sure. Vizsla1 only mentioned speed limits.

I carry a smartphone basically every minute of every day. If Big Brother wants to know where I am he doesn't need a black box in my car.

I might be getting my first one in the mail....hopefully not though, I don't think I will. I guess they review the footage and see if you are warranted a ticket or not. I don't think I'll get one because I didn't run a red or yellow light but I passed the red line as I was stopping.

Whats stupid about these camera light tickets is that they are more expensive than a citation a police officer would cite you for, like a LOT more expensive.

Only old people go the speed limit. It's big brotheresque because we wouldn't know exactly what information are in those black boxes.
Living next to a Retirement villiage, I see about half of the (other) fogeys driving under the speed limit instead of 9mph over like the rest of us want to go.

But 90 percent of the time there's a slowpoke in ALL the frikken lanes slowing down the rush hour traffic it's some DITWAD texting someone or leaning on their right shoulder while talking on their "smart" phone.

^^^^ this! You last sentence makes me swerve at them on purpose. I get next to them, see them on their phone while going 52 in a 65 and I snuggle up quite close to them. Funny thing is, when they finally realize how close I am, they quickly swerve to the shoulder thinking it was them swerving into me!

That's why I drive like a bat out of hell when I'm on my cell phone. chuckleshuffle

For the most part, I don't have a problem with cameras at stop lights. Hey, if they catch me breaking the law then that's my problem.

BUT...what drives me friggen nuts is the camera toll road going in and out of Denver Air Port. WTH.....I go to the airport and several months later I will get a bill in the mail telling me to pay a few bucks. Our company got a bill from them one time from a month that noone had gone to that airport in. It was from one of our trucks but nobody had gone there on the day it stated.

If the friggen city of Denver wants my money for driving on their roads to get to their air port and spend my money at their gas stations and restaurants and parking lots.....they can friggen put someone out on the road to take my money or simply put the change receptacles in that are unmanned. I have stopped paying the toll. I am going to see how in the world they plan to enforce this.

Don't see how that's possible? Here in Iowa the tickets are half the price of the normal tickets because there is no court cost associated with the ticket. It's also a civil fine, so that means it doesn't go on your driving record which doesn't effect your insurance rates.

We had these in our town until the state Supreme Court ruled that how the tickets are sent out is unconstitutional.

They were supposed to revise the process but its been a few years.

It pisses me off so much when I see people texting/talking while they are driving that I usually will roll down my window and throw my beer can at them.
