Can Doland native Miles rescue Nebraska basketball?

To be fair, there’s a level of ambiguity surrounding the small silver statue of St. Jude – the patron saint of lost causes – that sits on a shelf in his lavish new office on the back side of the Bob Devaney Sports Center at the University of Nebraska.

It was a gift from his mother, Alyce, a devout Catholic who lives a Hail Mary throw from St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls.

A dusting of divine intervention – is that how the hyperactive South Dakota native wound up becoming the coach of a power-conference school at a time when it has decided to go “all in” on basketball?

I'm not Catholic but we can use all the help we can get! St Jude will need to be on the bench a lot this coming year I'm afraid.

What a great article. Someone the other day said Miles reminds them of Connie Yori and I think they're right on with that observation. When we start winning we'll call him Saint Tim.

Everybody throws in the "football school" thing but anybody around here knows 40,000 Husker fans would show up for hacky sack if we thought they could win.
