With the landscape of modern society, it's not okay except for in extreme situations to punch a man anymore. Do I like it? No. Regardless, it's not okay to hit a woman. Unless she has a weapon and is trying to harm you or your friends/family..... Or if she's Rosie O'Donnell.

I agree with the landscape of modern society then. The only time it's okay to punch anyone is in self defense. In which case the sex, age, race, religion, ect. of the attacker is utterly, completely, decidedly irrelevant.

Doesn't age/sex come into consideration when deciding if you need to "defend" yourself and to what degree?

 
I am OK with defending yourself in a situation where you need to take such actions. Saying that, how threatened do you think Hyde was in this situation? What was he defending himself from (If in fact he did hit her)?

The latest I heard is that the video shows that he didn't hit her. We will see where that goes.

This guy is roughly 10 years older than me, is 3 inches shorter, and weighs ~25 pounds less. He would annihilate me.

This woman is a few years older than me, is a couple of inches shorter than me and weighs ~25 pounds less than me. She would hand me my a$$.

These people don't look like they could cause serious damage, but they VERY easily could. I don't take any potential attacker lightly.

The point is, when fists, bottles, etc. start flying, you don't size someone up. You react. Please get yourself in a real fight or dangerous situation to understand what this feels like.

Now you've completely backtracked. You go from an extreme of "NEVER HIT A GIRL!!1!1!" to justifying it under certain circumstances.

Ever situation is different, I'm sure.

I was commenting on the antiquated belief it's not okay to defend yourself against a woman.

A 5 year old girl with a gun can kill you just as easily as a 22 year old man with a gun. (Yes, I know it's extreme, but it's just a point)

As it stands, out of the four Gardner is kicked off the team. Bough is suspended one game (for underage drinking) Hyde is suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of the crime (seeing as he's still not charged with anything) and Roby no news has come up because it went from assault with battery to pretty much nothing according to the Indiana police. More than likely a few games suspension.

So he's actually giving a pretty hard line on what's going on. How is he a scumbag?
