Can we lay this to bed? First of all, Washington and Washington State played them a lot better than we did via the score. USC's offense isn't the offense of old. They can't hold a candle to USC's offenses the past 3 years. Obviously, USC's defense isn't really that great either giving up the kind of points they did to both the previously mentioned teams. There's a reason Florida has leap frogged up in the standings ahead of USC. They've played a lot tougher opponents and won a hell of a lot more convincingly.
USC may in the end put it all together, but they're not the elite team of old. I would like to think Nebraska is better than both Washington and Washington State. However, the scores do speak for themselves. We had a glimmer of what the game might have been in the 3rd quarter, but we chose to continue running into a brick wall. I thought maybe we learned something from the USC game until I watched the KU game. We're a long way from being where we want to be. I'm guessing we're closer to being 5 years away from where we want to go than a couple. Hopefully the staff continues to learn and grow along with the team!
