Casey Martinez decides to open his mouth

You know, nothing jumps out at me from the article, but it does seem a bit odd. If Taylor's done, it'd be nice to hear something from Taylor. And I'm sure we will, eventually. But if his dad has nothing to add, and hasn't been asked (which I don't see why he would be...), why jump in at this point? Not that I take issue with it, just seems a bit weird.

A father has just as much, and more, of a right to talk about his son than a coach does.

It might not be the most effective or beneficial route, but it hardly seems to be done from poor intention. Cut the guy some slack for doing nothing more than speaking truth.

what i want to know is if there have been any hippa violations with all these discussions regarding taylor's health.

I think he just backed up what Bo said. .
Ain't his job.

I realized I was probably going to be on an island with this. But the best way a student athlete can mature and be the best/she he can be is to be left alone by his parents and figure it out for himself with his/her's coaches instruction in their head.

Taylor has never been close to having that.

I really think you are making this out to be a bigger deal than it needs to be.... we get it you don't care for Casey... or Taylor... but come on, THIS is really not an issue
Man I'm a huge Taylor guy.

This guy gets it.

He's just the jacka$$ dad at Little League/Pee Wee Football, that annoys the hell out of everyone else...

it's impossible for anyone to remember the medical term for such an injury.
"Hurt foot" is what they would diagnose at the Mayo Clinic...

I love you, polo, and I'm with you that Casey is sort of an annoying presence. But I didn't see anything wrong with the email. Probably it was a news organization trying to get some gossip out of the situation, and Casey simply responded. Seemed to fit in with the story we heard from Bo, but giving a little more detail on the injury.
Except that is kinda my point. If it fits in with the story (and I hope it's the truth, not a story) then the response from me, should my son is fortunate enough to be an athlete, or anyone that I would respect would have been---"my sons coach covered it in full in his press conference"

This article is him thrusting himself into Taylor's achievements and life. No different than his frigging clothing line he started when Taylor signed at Nebraska.
Well, I'm all for riding coattails myself. Hell, I'm doing it with the team right now.

Heard rumors......multiples times.......that Casey isn't allowed on NEB's campus?

Has anyone heard anything of the sort?

Yes, I am serious....

Saw him twice UCLA weekend. I don't think we get Drake to commit if he wasn't allowed on campus. Wouldn't make sense to me anyways.

I think the younger brother is a lock according to the girl next door to them. My bosses daughter. She is senior along with (I can not remember his name). She says the family loves Nebraska, the whole family.

Another way to look at it is that Bo Pelini has been pretty weird in handling Taylor's injuries the past four seasons, including his (apparent) decision to declare Taylor's injury "turf toe" when it wasn't, because that would be easier for everyone to understand, which it isn't. If his boy is really done for the season -- and career -- it might be nice if everyone understood the prognosis so they don't run with rumors about why Taylor's not traveling with the team or getting his job back even if healthy. Maybe Taylor gets more fitting respect as he ends his days at Nebraska on the sideline. Casey never mentioned the NFL.

There might be a lot going on between the lines, but it's also possible that Casey Martinez was being diplomatic.

If Kid Brother is coming to Nebraska, Bo and Casey must have reached an understanding.

Good to hear. Plenty of BS rumors always floaten around.

I don't see anything in this brief, tactful email that warrants a potshot at Casey Martinez. It's clear that this father truly has his son's best interests in mind. There are a lot of guys, including football players, whose dad was either absent or played a minimal role in their lives. It’s refreshing to see a dad like Casey Martinez who has his son’s back.
