Cause of MU player's death is unknown

Vahe Gregorian, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

COLUMBIA, Mo. - As a spontaneous memorial to Aaron O'Neal flourished at the north gate of Faurot Field, and plans for official services were clarified on Thursday, the cause of his sudden death Tuesday after a voluntary workout remained unclear after a preliminary autopsy.

"Pending further studies - that's the cause of death right there," Boone County medical examiner Valerie Rao said.

I don't beleive anyone is at fault. I hate reading about things like this. I hope his family can somehow get better.

This is terrible news. Prayers to his family and friends.

This was discussed on the radio last night by NU Strength Coach Dave Kennedy. He said it is a Dr recommendation whether to practice in the heat or not. Apparently they measure the heat/humidity to determine if it is dangerous to practice or not. However, cases like this will continue to happen every year. It appears from that article that this was not just a freak occurance?

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Very very sad - and scary at the same time.

He sounded like a real class act:

In an attached note, Harrington wrote, "It is a cold world without you and I miss you much ... You never caused problems or had to be loud to get attention, you were you and all you by yourself, and I loved that."

Prayers to his family, may God stay by their side!

It is really awful when it happens unexpected like that-it sounds like he wasnt invloved in anything too strenuous at the time either.

O'Neal is the MU player who unexpectedly died last week during practice. Im merging this with the existing thread on this topic.
