Nate Clouse sounds pretty confident that Nebraska could land Darnay on Saturday, his opinion is definitely an outlier compared to most other analysts.

Depends on where you put the emphasis in the sentence. There is no doubt we "could" land him. But it's not very likely.
Those were my words. Did you listen to the segment? He said a "good line for commitments this week would be 1.5" and also said that he would "take the over" on that.

Using the confidence points scale he ranked them:

1. Calvin

2. Holmes

3. Filiaga

4. Sarrell

I don't know that Clouse is a super reliable source as of late. The vibe I took from Darnay's interviews lately is that he's putting us in consideration out of respect for how much/hard we've recruited him. I'd guess OSU or UCLA based off of everything. Hope I'm wrong, just doubt it.

Jaylin Bradley and Calvin could put us "over".
Edit: FYI I didn't listen to the segment. Maybe he specified 1.5 from the AA game.

I didn't listen to the segment but I've read several things from him. In (internet) print, he's always saying it's "possible" but that's not the same as likely.

He also said in print that he'd take the over at 1.5. And I'm sure he would. But - again - he's been fairly prone to thinking we're in better shape than we are.

Mav,

Do you think that you or Clouse has a better read on what shape we are in?

Mav,

I think I do because I read what a lot of other people say about the impressions they've gotten from Holmes and Clouse tends to see things through Scarlet-colored glasses.

Let me ask you this: If Darnay doesn't pick NU, does that mean I'm right and he's wrong? Or is it going to be "well, he never said he was ACTUALLY picking Nebraska"?

I don't mean to dump on Clouse, I like him and it's always cool to listen to his reports. I think his job is kind of like being a weather man, you can never really know what these recruits are going to do. But if a weather man tells me it's going to be sunny all week and it rains 6 days, I'm going to take his opinion with a grain of salt next time.

Completely agree with this.

I would say, you were right and had a more realistic look at the situation... but if you're wrong, you don't want to know what I'd say about you.
